Excellent tips, Shawn! I knew most of them, but you added more knowledge to a couple. I especially liked the one about pointing. It was much more detailed than what I’ve heard before about taking flexibility out of your wrist. Very interesting!
Love that you share the passion .
Thanks for the awesome tips video!
Great tips!
Great tips Shaun. Iām curious, what is your preference of product for removing pitch from your plane bottom or blade?
So, "sharpen the blade" is kind of like "turn your computer off and on again" it sounds like. šššš»
Seriously, great tips — Thanks!
Your timing for this video is perfect. I plan on starting woodworking again and wanted to learn how to use a plane. Thank you!
Doin the hand plane shuffle. š
Great tips! Now I know why some of my edge planing doesn’t turn out flat. Improper technique with my fingers providing too much side to side leverage.
I love when your so passionate with hand tools … Love this video
Feeling the blade to train my fingers. Wow, brilliant! Once that skill is developed I can see how much of a timer saver that would be. Thank you!
Common sense advice, from start to finish, as usual: thanks a lot for another really helpful video! I’ve been a woodworker for many years, but I always get something new and valuable from your content. Keep it up!
Great share, thanks.
Fantastic tips Shawn thank you again.
Great tips, Shawn!
Hi Shaun. Thank you for a great video.
Can I ask please: how tight is the cap iron on your low angle jack plane? I often struggle to get this part right. Thanks cheers Alan
I’d be interested in a video on wood planes please
Fantastic insights, and wonderful explanation as well. Always a pleasure to see someone who has actually been a teacher, explaining things with solid paradigms. This is what truly makes you stand out, and why I anyways love watching your videos. Thank you
Just wanted to say thanks great explanation š
Interesting! Thanks!
have not seen you in some time. I thought you had dropped out of YouTube. You are an awesome teacher and am glad I have found you again. You deserve a far larger subscriber base.
You are the best.
I was always taught growing up to only use the little finger and ring finger when using a handsaw and a plane. "Let the tool do the work". When you use all four fingers, you take control away from the tool.
Thanks for sharing those tips!
What happen to "point your finger" rule later in the video?
Great info. Thanks.
Thanks Shawn,
The way you described these make it seem like pure common sense, yet I never thought of these that way before
You say tote quite a few times starting at 6:30, but I think you mean the knob. I think, don’t kill me.
Thank you so much. Great content! Very helpful!
T’was worth the effort!
good tips
Thanks, Shawn. I learned a lot
Thanks a lot…really good tips!
Great teaching points.
Great tips, thanks! I find it much easier to remember things if I understand why I’m doing it that way.
Great tips, thanks for the video. Best quote "Our entire purpose as wood workers is to dull blades."
