Home Depot Lumber/Hardware Supervisor here… please don’t go thru the garbage cans. We’re not allowed to give away garbage, or sell anything in the garbage. There is a “cull lumber” cart somewhere in the department. Ask an associate where that is. Please don’t be that guy. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to argue with a customer about why I’m not allowed to give u free crap just because it was sticking out of a garbage can. We reuse the stickers that hold lumber up off the ground, and recycle the ones we don’t. Literally twice a week i have to be an asshole and stop a guy that has a cart full of wooden stickers he thinks he’s gonna walk out the door with. It sucks to go thru that. Please stop. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. 😩

    I have the same t-shirt!

  3. Maurice Rucker on June 26, 2022 at 9:23 pm

I was hoping but not expecting this deal would be on the list. First of all, I worked for HD for 10 years, in three different states, and left 4 years ago, but this was true at every HD I worked at without fail. Without asking anyone, like a supervisor, or manager, any and all employees are allowed to give a discount of up to $50 every day of the week, for almost any reason. Like the guy in the video said Be nice, and professional ( does not count already discounted items) I

  4. Tyler Hood on June 26, 2022 at 9:24 pm

    Nice shirt.

  5. Alphin Mesa on June 26, 2022 at 9:24 pm

When did home Depot become "The home Depot"???

    There’s a The now?

  6. Cedar Poplar on June 26, 2022 at 9:25 pm

They will give you the discount. Each employee as a certain amount to be able to discount. DO NOT try to take advantage of this thing. You’ll embarrass yourself

  7. Q D0t on June 26, 2022 at 9:25 pm

I worked there. Damaged goods are rarely discounted, they are either trash compacted or sent back as per company policy. Cull lumber is getting strapped in big piles asap, as per company policy so buying a single peace is rare. Free scraps aren’t a thing anymore. Best way to save money is not to shop at the most expensive hardware store.

  8. ThrolyHD on June 26, 2022 at 9:28 pm

i Dont like that they limit MIlitary discount to 400$ per year…… like they served and protect you and us…. why cant they have unlimited 10%??? without them youd be speaking chinese or german…..

  9. rew78901 on June 26, 2022 at 9:28 pm

MILITARY DISCOUNT? HAH! TRY & GET IT!! They – do NOT.. NOT! want to give out this Discount!! NOT!! They make it EXTREMELY HARD to get!! Even after GETTING the discount – they will soon ignore it (disqualify it) – requiring u "re-enter" the Program – AGAIN! … I think its more for PR, than "actual intent"! In other words: a lotta B.S.!!

  10. Andrew_Owens on June 26, 2022 at 9:30 pm

I’ve got one for you. I don’t go there, my family doesn’t go there, my children don’t go there and their children won’t go there, EVER. They treated me as though they didn’t need my business and dicked me around for over a year about damage they did to my home and to their own appliance during an install. I keep track of how much they have lost since then and it is well into the 5 digits because of refusing to replace a dishwasher. I tell this story to anyone who will listen. FYI, I’ve been very happy with Lowes and Best Buy.

  11. DeadMeat on June 26, 2022 at 9:30 pm

4:04 Price Guarantee +10% is 10% of the difference, not the full product. So, if it’s 200 there and 180 somewhere else they’ discount it $22, not $40.

  12. Barry Probber on June 26, 2022 at 9:32 pm

Have spent thousands of dollars at Home Depot over the years but since they have been financing insurrectionists I always try to take my business elsewhere!

  13. Joe Tirado on June 26, 2022 at 9:34 pm

As a former Home Depot employee back in NY, depending on what it is, we can take off $50. Anything above that amount, a manager needs to approval it.

  14. Wild Willy on June 26, 2022 at 9:34 pm

    👍

  15. noelinnny on June 26, 2022 at 9:37 pm

Really good information – and really great T-shirt!

Did you know, I got paid to make this? There’s 10 tips that are just me going over Returns and being a Karen. Good tips.

  17. ARMADILLO on June 26, 2022 at 9:41 pm

yeah twice I’ve bought damaged boxes, a welder and a John deer tractor rear grass catcher, driving 30 miles back to the store cost me more than 10%, should have been 50% off because half the parts were missing

  18. Jordan Roy on June 26, 2022 at 9:42 pm

You forgot that now you can just load up a cart full of nice tools and just walk out. If the cops do find you then you have to apologize and pinky promise you’ll stop doing it.

  19. Allan Alcibar on June 26, 2022 at 9:42 pm

The military discount was sweet. But it used to have no limit. Now it stops after $400, per year. That kind of annoyed me after using it for years.

  20. Carlos Pacheco on June 26, 2022 at 9:42 pm

90 miles? I am going to stop complaining because I have one at 1.8 miles, another at 2.4 miles and a third one at 2.8 miles

  21. Grady Dorn on June 26, 2022 at 9:43 pm

    Could have gone…

  22. Don Gillette on June 26, 2022 at 9:44 pm

I’ll tell you what they WON’T do – they won’t give you the 10% military discount on an item that’s on sale OR on an item they have to order or have delivered.

  23. bones rhodes on June 26, 2022 at 9:44 pm

    — about the best deals from HD are when they are closing out a certain stock or their special deals stocks after a sale – the cuts can be massive. After one of their special sales events ( father’s day or some such ) I wandered in and earlier they had the Milwaukee drillbit sets ( you know the hype – $89 dollar ‘value’ only $39.95) marked down to $29 at the front of the store with a display of maybe a dozen left – I wasn’t interested at that price and headed back to the lumber area – lo & behold, there were two full displays, 24 to a display, of the exact same drillbit sets at the far back – marked $5. Went to the manager and told him I’d take one full display for $100 – I gave everybody I worked with sets of drillbits – unfortunately, one of the few items that Milwaukee makes which aren’t really worth crap is – drillbits – but at $5 for a 24 bit set, they were a steal.

  24. Randall Price on June 26, 2022 at 9:47 pm

Rest assured. HD and Lowes have exactly the same pricing on brand names.

  25. Matty Dominic on June 26, 2022 at 9:48 pm

    Good tips… & nice #TheChosen shirt 😉

  26. Rhinos Demise on June 26, 2022 at 9:48 pm

I just want to add one to the list. If you see a employee with a orange or grey shirt but are NOT wearing an Apron, they are a MET employee and they are considered a vendor and do not work directly for the store. Sometimes we can answer "where can I find ______" questions, but anything else, your best bet is to find someone with a orange apron on.

  27. Andrew Finkenstadt on June 26, 2022 at 9:49 pm

    Love TheChosen T-shirt

  28. The Dude ARides on June 26, 2022 at 9:49 pm

As a former HD employee… cashier and tool rebtal… you don’t necessarily need manager approval, we were allowed to give anyone up to $50 off.

  29. bobby burress on June 26, 2022 at 9:52 pm

    I use the veteran discount

  30. WD Curry 111 on June 26, 2022 at 9:52 pm

    Dang, Bro! What a shopper!

  31. SkinneR on June 26, 2022 at 9:53 pm

    [Québec, Canada]
fyi, product price drops within a month and getting back the difference; this is not only for home depot. Anything you buy , has a 30 day money back consumers protection guarantee. So if ever they dont want to give you back the difference, just return the item, get your full refund, then go right back to the isle and purchase the same product at the reduced price!

  32. sadorad on June 26, 2022 at 9:55 pm

    Nice shirt

  33. TheBlazingVideo on June 26, 2022 at 9:56 pm

Home Depot changed their military discount and now put a 400 cap is ridiculous. Lowes is also changing their military discount by taking certain products out of eligibility. Screw both of them. Go to Menards and get you 11% rebate without bs restrictions.

  34. James Muncy on June 26, 2022 at 9:57 pm

The best secret is not to shop at Home Depoe

  35. 731 Woodworks on June 26, 2022 at 9:58 pm

What’s the best deal you’ve gotten at Home Depot or share a secret not covered?

  36. XanderB on June 26, 2022 at 9:59 pm

This is coming from myself, a current employee at THD. #1 is partially correct, a damaged box does NOT mean damaged merchandise…boxes get moved around all the time, can you imagine how much money the company would lose if they gave discounts for every single damaged box? The managers at least at my store won’t give a discount unless the product itself is damaged. As far as #2 goes, cull lumber that’s in the bin is actually 70% off. #3 is very interesting, because I actually did not know that.

  37. Jeff Barr on June 26, 2022 at 9:59 pm

So, as someone that works for HD, I will say that most of this is correct but some is not.
Just cause a box is messed up does not get u a discount. The match plus 10% has be gone for several years. But we do match.

  38. Scott C on June 26, 2022 at 10:00 pm

Just saw this. Most of these I remember when you didn’t have to go and spend time asking for these types of things, the places would just do that for you.

  39. Xin Zhang on June 26, 2022 at 10:03 pm

I live in Canada and one other tip that I’ve used a lot is that if you buy an item that “comes with a free battery” but you only needed the item and not the battery, you can actually return the battery for a pro-rated price of both items. For example if you bought a $100 saw and got a $50 battery free, you can return the battery for $50/($100+$50)*$100 = $33, and you keep the saw for $67. If you only wanted the battery but wanted to return the saw, you can keep the battery for $33. Same rules apply if you buy something and get a free bare tool. Cheers!

  40. Michael M on June 26, 2022 at 10:06 pm

And if you have a valid military ID you automatically get 10% everything.

  41. Laserred01 on June 26, 2022 at 10:07 pm

I haven’t seen those 15% workshop coupons in over a year! Do they still exist?

  42. Andrew Head on June 26, 2022 at 10:08 pm

Where I live the scuff lumber is 70% off

  43. Dan Stephenson on June 26, 2022 at 10:10 pm

You showed a vanity with a "02" at the end of the price. If "03" is the last clearance, what does the "02" mean?

  44. INTERNA9 on June 26, 2022 at 10:10 pm

    LOVE it !

  45. Ephraim Timmerman on June 26, 2022 at 10:10 pm

Cull lumber is actually 70% off. Also 10% only applies to actually damaged products not just the box, unless it is the last box on the shelf, or unless of course the manager decides to mark it down for you anyways. Also the 10% meet and beat guarantee was a policy that was gotten rid of about a year ago

  46. Jason Noyes on June 26, 2022 at 10:12 pm

I ask for a discount every time I go to Home Depot 90% of the time they give it to me for just asking some times I’ve gotten up to 25% off discounts “ for just asking” the key is be nice and polite

  47. Bernie Toth on June 26, 2022 at 10:14 pm

1:11 … and the flyer you are, the more honeys you’ll get 😎

  48. Tom Marsala on June 26, 2022 at 10:15 pm

Home Depot will not give a military discount on building products. Lowes gives a military discount on everything. Revenue wise Lowes is a smaller company and still does military discounts on everything, if Lowes can do it then Home Depot should do it.

  49. Greg Lewis on June 26, 2022 at 10:16 pm

Thanks for the tips, and love the shirt (The Chosen)! 🙂

  50. Tim Wilson on June 26, 2022 at 10:19 pm

No mention of their “Bid Room”?
