10 Woodworking Tips from a Pro Shop
10 Woodworking Tips from a Pro Shop
Here are 10 woodworking tips from a full time professional woodworking shop cranking out commercial work every day! I spent a week at Lakeside Woodworks shop in Kentucky while they were working on a batch of 63 tables for Buffalo Trace’s new tasting rooms and a huge red oak bar to help out and see how they do things differently to keep up with demand.

I saw that digital router style machine also seen jimmy diresta use it on a some projects like a router and cnc at the same time wa sat the end of the video at the Rockler store the other day so cool caleb @YouCanMakeThisToo
We missed you! But Iām glad you got to get up there. Great video.
This was extremely interesting – thank you! Hate to be ‘that guy’, but it really surprises me to see guys doing woodworking (especially on a large scale) with no hearing/eye/lung protection and minimal to no dust collection. Do you know if this is common in production shops?
I used to work in my basement shop without my respirator. The first time I did a sinus flush afterward convinced me never to work without it, even though it’s hot.
Why, Why, Why the LOUD music ????
I had an employee who made an OSHA complaint about another employee because of his body odor. When OSHA comes into your business they check everything. You can rob banks right up until you get caught so don’t think that you are immune to this stuff because your employees love you.
Thanks for the tips! ššš»šš»
11:00 Why isn’t this guy wearing a respirator?
Besides that, this is another quality video!
Great tips and it’s a totally different mentality!
Always fun to watch/learn how the pro’s do it. Thanks for the video
My favorite part was that big sander! I could watch that all day!
Well done Caleb!! love the video:)
That metal lid is neet they put on the 1 gallon can and started poring the can with it on super cool video Caleb @YouCanMakeThisToo
I like watching Nick work, that Jess is a lucky gal, Lol.
I’m very surprised by the more or less non existent dust extraction and face masks or respirators. Would think that pro workshops had that under control.
Can’t believe they wouldn’t use a draw knife for bark removal. It’s super quick and one you use it for awhile you can get a really good finish off the knife
That sander is massive
PPE is personal decision in the size shop they run, it’s available for whoever wants it. These guys make different decisions than what I do, but that’s their choice just like how in your shop – it’s your choice. Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed the video and was able to take something away from it.
I would never of thought to use bondo on wood interesting
this background music is fire. love it
Great video Caleb, they’ve got out going the right way in KY. Thanks for sharing. *Chris*
What is all the artifacting on the video? I noticed it really badly around 4:38 Is this part of the editing or something with youtube?
These guys doing production work without dust collection and masks makes me cringe. Good tips though. Would love to learn more about that clamping technique!
Really enjoyed the real world view of a production shop !
First again?
