OMFG… this is insane neatness! drooool.
Love the tips here. Will be using some of these ideas in my own shop! Might post a video about it 😉
You kinda got me goin there bruh🥵
Great shop and topic. One suggestion regarding presentation – limit your hand movements when talking. It detracts from paying attention to what is being said.
I am an absolute beginner and find your advices very helpful!
Nice job and some great ideas. I can’t say that I learned anything, but it was fun to see the order you put them in. I agree with most of all your rules.
I agree with 3frogltd cleaning is very important and much safer than working in a messy shop. ALL of my accidents have come from being messy and then getting in a hurry. I do not have a cleaning schedule, but I make sure I clean the shop after or before every new job.
Again, nice video.
PS I was just thinking about hanging more stuff. I need space to store stuff that I am working on, I am often surprised at how often customers delay in picking up stuff or getting back to me with the details I need to continue the project.
PPS all my cabinets go all the way to the ceiling.
I spend time trying to find the tool and then I forget what I wanted it for in the first place.
Just moved from a shop where we often pulled everything out into the driveway to build. Truck tailgates were an essential work space. Now we have 3000 sq ft… but just emptied our 5 storage units into it. Smh. Posted our before video and came looking for where to start.
So we start at your step 1. I reckon that alone is going to take us a minute. But when done there I’ll be back for step 2.
For fastener bin storage, another helpful and easy thing you can do is to take one of each of the fasteners and glue it to the front of the bin so you can actually SEE what is in them at a glance insted of having to read among all the same looking labels. Also, you can color code your labels according to type like red for screws, green for nails, yellow for nuts and bolts, etc.
Wow! Such organization skills. Amazing shop. 🤩
Hola! 🖐I’m just about done emptying out my two car garage to begin building a shop. This video is full of good tips and suggestions. I will definitely go back and reference this one more than once I’m sure. Just subbed thanks to this video. Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
Really helpful video thanks
Nice shop. I see you suffer from my own affliction where most of what I build it to organize the tools I build with.
what was your cost on the miter saw station?
11 was my favorite
I’m like 30 seconds in and I’m staying for the movie references that you’ve already made
Greetings from Michigan barn/garage via Chicago. I liked and appreciate everything but that terrible hat you’re wearing. 🫨
After tripping over junk I came to the conclusion I need to organise my workshop, alot. This was the first vid I found, most useful. Immediately noticeable is I need much more lighting.
This was outstanding content. You had me at 11!! LOL I’m not a woodworker, just a handyman and DIYer but fight the organization battle like so many. Thanks for sharing what works for you and your great looking shop.
Great tips, loved it.
I really like your shop and the tip to create storage for related items UNDER the tool is a good one. I also like the small, clear container hack. You may want to update the link. Product currently not available as of July 31.
This is a great video on organization! I am a scrap hoarder by nature and having a space where you say ‘It doesn’t fit, so it goes in the fire’ is really important
GREAT video! Thanks
Tysk, tysk. You had a cordless router on top of the drill/driver station and not with the routing cart 😂
Very inspiring video, and a beautiful shop!
I would be interested in the ratio of time taken to create all the organizational cabinets and whatnot vs actual time working on projects. I am currently finishing one kitchen build, two base cabinets remaining, while also starting on the next kitchen build, and I just don’t have any time to organize my shop that way. I’m lucky if the floor gets swept once a week.
How does one overcome the time issue?
Awesome video. Very helpful and informative. Thank you.
Great advice and video mate. Completely enjoyed scanning your workshop for ideas, however your tips were super valuable….
Thank you
Finely broke the piggy bank and am receiving a new drum sander (S/M 19/38) today. After the excitement and hooray are gone, the truth comes into play. I get to rearrange my shop to make it more usable. So, I (1st) get to get it off the delivery truck on to my trailer – some delivery system! Then off my trailer into my shop. No wait, 1st, I’ve got to make room in my shop. This means I’ve got move my work table (32" x 60")Then my 60" lathe up against the wall (better chip concentration? , install a pair of LED lights above the lathe, plus a clean-up where the lathe and work bench were. Oh, also put the drum sander together! Looks like another week’s worth of work without production! I love being retired!!
First time designing my workshop. Never had the space or time before. Great suggestions. Gonna take this and run with the project! Thanks 👍
When you said “ how often..” my answer was “ all the time”. Both times..
great content thanks
This press has worked like a charm for my projects https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn’t even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It’s not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won’t be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don’t have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with. This was an excellent purchase for $40!!
Great information, it’s difficult working in a very small shop like mine. Staying organized is not my strong point for sure
I love when i find the box of screws i bought 3 years ago. SURPISE. If i ever get around the building the shop i want. I will not put cabinet doors on. If i can see the tool my brain will remember where it is and goes.
Thank you so much, did you make you own carts and cabinets? I think so, surprising
Great video mate! Super useful
Where did you get your cabinets for your shop?
Add #12 to your list. Duh
A label maker is one of the best and most crucial tools any woodworker can own. Being organized is just as important as creating a good work of art. Beautiful shop man!
Amazing video! I would love more like these!
I like this video
Wish you were my neighbor you can come over!
😂😂😂
Awesome video’s
Only thing I don’t like about vertical wood storage is wood tends to warp. Softwoods especially
If the piece is to small for a cutting board it may be a handle or pen blank for me.
Which plywood r u using to make your cabinets could u tell me pls love from 🇮🇳
You sound a lot like Saul Goodman
Great tips. I used your link to get the little plastic bins. I’m about to redo my storage for fasteners and such like these. I also have a little clamp envy. Well… actually… alot. 😂. Just watched your assembly table video before this. And like I said there… there are tons of videos out there about assembly tables. Same with shop cabinets. I’ve used plans from Fix This Build That and Make Something. I think one thing that comes to mind when I see your shop is that I like the style. I like the way everything looks. I am personally struggling with my shop organization in a big way. I have been extremely blessed with having my dream shop as far as size and tools. I love my space. But it’s not set up well. In the last year I added two big things. A laser (GF) and an MFT3 table. I also have an xcarve. And the layout… just isn’t working for me. And even though I have a large shop… I’ve managed to clutter it pretty bad, storing things that don’t belong in there. So I’ve been on a kick to reorganize and purge. I think one helpful way to do this is to redefine my shop furniture. I’ve pieced things together. Some are relevant still and some are not. But what I would really like to do is have something cohesive. With that said… off to watch more of your videos on building shop furniture. Thanks for sharing.
Many have already shared the same thoughts. Outstanding content and I love your simple and straight to the point presentation style. Thank you!
I have "repurchased" so many tools and crap because while I knew I had them, where there were was a bigger mystery than what’s happening at Area 51. That motivated me to organize…but there are so darn many ways to do it that I get overwhelmed – should I use French cleats? Cabinets? Shelves? wtf? Thanks for the ideas!
