Use a sprinkle of salt on glue joint. Board wont slide around. Magic!
Great tips! Would love to see this set of tips written up as an article. Can’t remember everything, but I keep many articles on my laptop or phone for reference.
How goes it with the new shop?
Thanks for sharing, and God bless!
Good tips, thanks.
You know what else works as an long clamp? Ratchet straps. Saved my bacon a couple of times.
Good tips! Thank you.
Neat! Learned a few new things. Thank you!
Best tips vid Eva!
CONGRATULATIONS on your obvious success. You’re a talented and gifted moderator and carpenter. You’re also interesting to listen to AND watch and are also an excellent role model for other women in the world. Thanks for the ever fresh and ever helpful videos.
You have far too many different clamps for one person! I think you have more than Laura Kampf. In fact, I first saw that last trick with the tape on Laura’s channel.
Thank you thank you thank you
great tips I have used a few of them but learned a couple of new ones thanks so much
Thanks for the tips, I can use several of them.

ok, the brad nail was a game changer!!
Hi April, this isn’t a clamping trick, but is used when gluing and clamping, especially when using a scrap board and off cuts as in your first tip. I use baking paper as a bond breaker between the workpiece and anything that glue squeeze out could adhere to, such as the workbench of a glue up board. That way we don’t have to chisel work off the bench. Excess glue on the baking paper just peels off when dried so it’s highly reuseable, for glue ups and varnishing. At school we buy commercial rolls, 120m (120 yards) x 60cm (24"). Using small slivers is also very helpful when separating items in a final full assembly glue up.
A helpful clamping trick with F clamps and quick action clamps is to turn the handle and end around to face outwards, this creates an outward clamping pressure, pushing pieces away from each other.
I love these tips videos… watching the tips, I have a "wow, that is genius" or "that seems obvious… now that she shows me" heh
i like to chain clamps together to make a longer clamp. works well with quick clamps. put the trigger ends to the outside, and hook the dumb ends together. tried to add a pic, but for some reason i can’t just did it for making a wide barn door. worked well.
Awesome!!!!! Thanks for these tips, April. Brilliant ideas.
Great tips.
very good suggestions
Add a small block to the head of the lag screws to minimize any dents that may form.
Great tips. Thanks.
great video another tip i picked up when glueing several parts together use the woodglue and put salt on it before bringing the parts together this stops them from slipping when the clamps are applied a standard salt pot is all you need
#10 I’ve done that before 😁
thanks!
Another method to keep your boards from shifting is a bit of salt, it won’t affect the glue-up but it adds just enough friction to keep the boards form slipping.
Awesome!
Great clamping tips April some of them will be a big help to me thanks.
Who doesn’t like this video?
So good!
Thank you, April!
If you don’t have long clamps, you can link two shorter ones together to make a longer one👍
That was one of best vids I’ve seen. Thanks April!
Cool
I learned more than a thing or two. Many thanks.
One thing that I use a lot, and was not touched on here, is the use of long rubber straps, and even rubber "bands" made out of old inner tubes.
Fabulous tips!
Sometimes I hook two bar clamps together to make an extra long bar clamp.
Excellent tips for everyone!
Most I knew already, but there were some new ones that would come in handy, for example, the door jamb hack!!!
Thank you.
These are wonderfully helpful, thanks!!
2- 2×4’s, 3 1/2” inches square with a hole in the center, a threaded rod, 2 washers, and 2 wing nuts makes a nice long clamp.
Hay April, Great tips. I’ll definitely use 3 & 4. Thanks –M
Brilliant, will have to add some of those to my repertoire.
These tips are going to be a huge help……….for future projects…..thanks April……
Great Job. Keep up the great work
