12 LAST MINUTE Woodworking gift ideas you can make or sell with scrap wood

Are these POSSIBLY the best handmade woodworking gifts you can make RIGHT NOW for last-minute holiday gifts? I’ve been making 12 woodworking gift ideas for my own family and friends, and enjoyed them so much, I decided to share them in this easy-to-digest list so you can pick which ones you’d like to make and follow along with the dedicated video.

These were all made using scrap wood, budget-friendly as I needed to save money too!, and I hope you agree that they’re all easy, reasonably beginner friendly, varied for different hobbies, and can be customised for a personal touch, either with paint, a Cricut vinyl cutting machine, etc.

I tried many new techniques myself, like using mod podge to transfer photos to wood, and burning wood with a pyrography pen and it really did get me thinking about how else I can adapt these methods in my future projects… and design DIY Christmas gifts that people ACTUALLY WANT!

As usual, I discuss tips and tricks where you can go wrong, where I WENT WRONG ๐Ÿ˜‚, what’s the cheapest for quick and easy for batch-making any stocking fillers, and what may use up more of your time.

I made these easy woodworking gift ideas as part of my first ever 12 Days of Giftmas series, which you can find the entire playlist here, all with easy step-by-step tutorials: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLV5z5fnF1kffq7XyU-sSIdiyA6ihNzwUb

And if you’ve already done your Christmas shopping for 2022, or making them, then perhaps you might like to think of DIY wood projects that sell best on platforms like Etsy.

Also, as we’re all in a recession right now, as a Christmas gift from me to you, I’ve created free plans for most of these which you can sign up to receive right now from my blog: https://thecarpentersdaughter.co.uk/subscribe/
*You’ll find the list on my Thank You confirmation page… PLEASE bookmark this page as you can keep going back to it whenever you like!
**Note, there’s just 2 on this list that isn’t free, (the dog wine bottle holder & the cookbook stand as they took a lot more time to put together), but you CAN get them, including all my PREMIUM plans by becoming a Patreon member for as little as $1 a month!

Anyway – sit back, relax with a cuppa and I hope you enjoy watching (and hopefully you’re sat in a cozy house, unlike me at my Dad’s freezing woodyard ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Hi, Vikkie. If I haven’t mentioned it previously, I loved this series of videos. It may be my favorite Carpenter’s Daughter videos to date. Each of the projects is appealing and well worth building, but I have to say that I especially like this series because it features loads of "Vikkie". You are enjoyable and charming and when you are prominent in a video, I usually enjoy the video. Thanks again for the series. Merry Christmas.

So I loved your dog bottle holder. I watched the video Wednesday morning and by Wednesday evening I had designed and cut out a cat bottle holder based on your idea. I made it out of ambrosia maple cut offs and the tail/body was made from mahogany. I donโ€™t have instagram to show you picks of the final project but I do want to thank you for the idea.

I genuinely loved all of themโ€ฆbut I think on reflection I still love the guitar book ends โ€ฆand the plink bottle game for design/ fun the most. Thank you for such a great series. Happy Xmas ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ’•jane

Very cool builds. I made a cheese board (top) 3 wine bottle holder caddy, with handles on the sides.

What was your favourite project out of all of them? ๐Ÿค”

    Many good gift ideas.
Drinko plinko is the one I like the most.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Vikkie Lee.

Great summary of the gift ideas. Definitely still the drink plink but the book ends a close second. I’m down to using off-cuts of-off cuts so my builds are getting smaller and smaller!

I know I said one of the other projects was my favorite, when I commented on your last video. But it was a toss up between it and the guitar book ends.
