1964 5HP tablesaw full Restoration Wadkin Bursgreen 12AGS

I have been looking for a tablesaw for a while and i came across this one on ebay. So picked it up and decided i should first make it run well. At the moment everything was taken apart it was not a big job to paint the saw to machine color green so decided to do that aswell. Thought it would make a nice youtube video so i filmed it :).

The model of the saw is a Wadkin Bursgreen 12AGS with a 5 horsepower (4KW) motor.

Thank you for filming this, I can’t believe how there’s almost no table saw resto videos there are on YouTube. I’m tackling mine, and have had a very difficult time finding any videos. Yours turned out very nice.

Im restoring a saw also, but its in much worse shape than yours. Lots more rust, so I am planning on doing more clean up. Did you have any issues with excessive runout on the blade or arbor after reassembly?

Just seen your video, great job, my ags 10/12 decided to seize today in the top bearing so looks like it will get a restoration. Your video will come in handy. Regards Roy.

That trunnion probably weighs more than my jobsite table saw.

what a great machine, The engineers goal was to make a great machine with the least amount of stuff, oh yeah and it should be heavy. I was so glad to see you did not over clean that. Just the essentials and back to work. Well Done.

You need a riving knife for that? I have an AGS 10 and I’m getting some laser cut from 2.5mm stainless from a DXF file (same knife pattern as AGS 12). Let me know if you want in on the batch

Made a good job, but as the old saying goes, it’s not worth spoiling the ship for a halfpenny worth of tar.
I know you don’t see the inside but does it make it right.
Sanding & painting the he moor & housing etc, with a bit of silicone spray on the moving parts would have been a bonus.
Anyway, as I said, you did a good job, I hope you have many happy, safe hours with it.

I won’t watch just because of the music

Not having a riving knife causes kick back and is very dangerous, you need it fitted

Maybe I missed it but can you tell me the purchase price? I’m looking at one and they’re asking 800. It’s a working table saw

Beautiful. Nothing like a good solid table saw.

Hey. Ive Got nearly the same looking startrite ta 175 table saw with 3phase 3hp motor. It need a Little bit restorstion But the bigest problem is that motor stops during cutting even small pine boards. It seems like motor have no power. Do you know what can be wrong?

    Nice restore!
Mine still has the original paint, gave it all a good cleaning and it works great.
Heavy though, squashed a finger unloading it into my shop 😢
Looking for a good dust collection idea now.
