Completely agree, don’t know what the fuck makita we’re thinking with ditching the variable trigger, huge mistake, and it’s biggest downfall. Also the new button trigger style on tools is god awful. Haven’t met anyone who thinks otherwise.

Honestly wish I’d just bypassed the bs for the mafell or festool. In the long run the price is worthit
As always a top class review.
    Carry on boyo ✌️

  2. Fred D on May 3, 2022 at 6:57 pm

I like my M18 Milwaukee barrel handle great power and control … blade choice is critical have you used Diablo blades ? If not try them

  3. Robert Rada on May 3, 2022 at 6:57 pm

You can only turn off the Makita’s slow-start in the UK/AU/NZ. I learned the hard way. My latest Festool Carvex (and being a Mafell owner, and familiar with the Carvex…lol…not impressed) just arrived because the barrel grip Makita has the dumbest power/on/off ever invented and the A mode caused me to ruin the kind of cuts you’d need a cordless jigsaw for at my job. :0

  4. Jonathan on May 3, 2022 at 6:57 pm

I thought makita had an updated brushless jigasw the XVJ03Z that had variable speed trigger. Why was that not the one you tested?

  5. Artur on May 3, 2022 at 6:58 pm

    I have DeWalt DCS335N-XJ It’s brilliant

  6. Hammer Hearter on May 3, 2022 at 6:59 pm

What if you did barrel grip? Cause they don’t use variable speed

  7. Pooya on May 3, 2022 at 7:01 pm

Super-informative no-nonesense review, putting 4 brands of cordless jigsaws to test in some practical situations, without the annoying showmanships that you often see in some other videos. Well done!

  8. KCSwing6880 on May 3, 2022 at 7:03 pm

I like the four way split screen!

  9. kizz jd on May 3, 2022 at 7:03 pm

The makita jigsaw is bloody annoying. Most times il get halfway through my cut before the soft start turns off. I’ve fkd up alot of timber by it doing that when you least expect it. I think im going to sell it and get the brushed version or the hikoki 36v.

  10. Benjamin Gerow on May 3, 2022 at 7:04 pm

That intro jigsaw puzzle gag had me rolling. Subscribed

  11. Jeff on May 3, 2022 at 7:05 pm

I’d actually really appreciate seeing how the Hikoki 36v multivolt jigsaw does against the 18 Actually I would like to see all of them compete against their respective counterparts

  12. John Mackay on May 3, 2022 at 7:06 pm

Couldn’t agree more about the lack of variable speed trigger on the Makita, if the djv182 had this it wouldbe almost perfect IMO. I ended up downgrading from the djv182 to the djv180 recently because of this and also the soft start could be a hit or miss with thinner materials, found myself almost forcing the tool to cut so it would ramp up the speed. The djv180 doesn’t cut so fast but I’m happier to have the control. Great review again.

  13. Michael Datsen on May 3, 2022 at 7:07 pm

One of the only DeWalt tools which is actually very good. It doesn’t look like a typical DeWalt which are usually bulky and heavy. DeWalt is still a good brand, just sometimes does not come close to the rest.

  14. smurfx on May 3, 2022 at 7:08 pm

Is the brushed Makita good enough? Want to complete my tool collection but I rather not get the newest version since it’s like double the cost. How is the 12v Makita version? I also have M12 power tools so i can get that as well.

  15. Subotai on May 3, 2022 at 7:08 pm

10.50 dewalt and hikoki Best clean cut Wow milwauke and makita having to much vibrations and that key in milwaukee Fall of haha 😀 milwauke faster but dewalt Little slower but much cleaner cuts i prefer dewalt

*DEWALT @**6:55** HAS A GIANT 60 VOLT BATTERY DANGLING IN THE BACK. BATTERY WEIGHS MORE THAN THE FRONT OF THE TOOL. TOTALLY UNBALANCED TOOL. WHY WOULD ANYONE NEED SUCH AN ENORMOUS HEVAY CLUMSY BATTER FOR A JIG SAW. LOOKS LIKE JIGSAW READY TO DO WHEELIES, ALL WEIGHT IS IN THE BACK LOL* GREAT JOB ON YOUR VIDEOS. I SUBSCRIBED.

  18. Тончо Тонев on May 3, 2022 at 7:11 pm

You saved me some money with this video, i was wondering getting either makitas djv182 the model you showed here or DJV181 the barrel one.. If you can make a video showing djv181 it would be super nice 😁😁

  19. What The Function on May 3, 2022 at 7:12 pm

I’m watching this as if I won’t just get the one I have batteries for.

  20. daversj on May 3, 2022 at 7:13 pm

If you design a jigsaw without variable speed it’s clear you have no time using a jig saw. You always start slow and finish slow with a jigsaw. What clown was in charge of the decision to remove VS from the trigger.

  21. Tim Mortimer on May 3, 2022 at 7:14 pm

Should of had the 36v hikoki they say its the best cordless jigsaw out

Have you used the bosch blue jigsaw? I have two platforms dewalt and bosch. Be interesting to see what your opinion would be.
And thanks for your time and effort!! Appreciated.

You can adjust that problem you have with the makita. It’s in the manual.

    Disabling the soft no-load rotation
    function
To disable the soft no-load rotation function, follow the
    steps below.
    1. Make sure that the tool is turned off.
    2. Set the speed adjusting dial to "1".
    3. Press the lock/unlock button to turn on the tool.
    4. Set the speed adjusting dial to "5" by turning it,
and then set it to "1" by turn it back.
The lamp blinks twice to indicate that the soft no-load rotation function is disabled. To enable this function again, perform the same procedure again.
    􏰀 1. Lock/unlock button 2. Start/stop button
    Lighting up the front lamp
NOTE: If the tool is left for 10 seconds without any operation in the standby mode, the tool automatically turns off and the lamp goes off.
NOTE: You can also stop and turn off the tool by pressing the lock/unlock button while the tool is operating.
CAUTION: Do not look in the light or see the source of light directly.
To turn on the lamp, press the lock/unlock button. To
turn off the lamp, press the lock/unlock button again.
    Speed adjusting dial
NOTE: When the temperature is low, this function may not be available.
NOTICE: When the tool is overheated, the lamp lickers. Cool down the tool fully before operating the tool again.
NOTE: Use a dry cloth to wipe the dirt off the lens of the lamp. Be careful not to scratch the lens of lamp, or it may lower the illumination.
    1
NOTE: If the soft no-load rotation function is disabled, the lamp blinks twice when the tool is turned on.
NOTE: You can also disable or enable the soft no-load rotation function by changing the speed adjusting dial from "5" to "1" and changing it from "1" to "5".
    􏰀 1. Speed adjusting dial
The tool speed can be adjusted by turning the speed adjusting dial. You can get the highest speed at 5 and the lowest speed at 1.
Refer to the table to select the proper speed for the workpiece to be cut. However, the appropriate speed may differ with the type or thickness of the workpiece. In general, higher speeds will allow you to cut workpieces faster but the service life of the blade will be reduced.

I’m on team red, but sometimes those tools are just too damn powerful. It is not only about the beans Milwaukee! We need more control!

  30. evolve p on May 3, 2022 at 7:27 pm

i love my Bosch 18v d handle and barrel grip, have had it for years and it has the best trigger ever ( d handle) and form factor ever, especially woth the procore batteries , imo.

  31. Tiny Home Living Magazine on May 3, 2022 at 7:29 pm

*HOW CAN YOU SAY DEWALT HAS A VARIABLE SPEED TRIGGER IF IT IS CONTROLLED BY A DIAL? SEEMS TO BE A VARIABLE SPEED CONTROLLED BY THE DIAL THEN A PLOY ON WORDS. DIAL OVER RIDES SPEED*

  32. Daniel Turner on May 3, 2022 at 7:30 pm

Are you going to start reviewing bosch

  37. Tiny Home Living Magazine on May 3, 2022 at 7:36 pm

*YOUR COMMENT ABOUT MAKITA, BEING TOTALLY USELESS BECAUSE OF A SPEED DIAL. YOU SAID YOU GO ALL IN WITH SPEED ALL THE TIME, NO NEED TO USE A DIAL. WELL IF YOU EVER DID INTRICATE WORK ON THIN MATERIAL LIKE LUAN, PANELING, ETC. OR CABINET WORK. YOU GO AS SLOW ON THE DIAL AS YOU CAN. MINIMIZE TEAROUT AND BOUNCING. FULL BLAST ON THIN SHEETS OF PANELING YOU WILL BE BOUNCING ALL OVER THE PLACE. THOUGHT YOU HAD MORE EXPERIENCE THAN TO SAY A DIAL IS USELESS.* EXAMPLE, CUTTING OUT THE CIRCLES IN THE BACK OF A CABINET FOR PLUMBING PIPES. PERSONALLY I USE AND LIKE THE BOSCH BARREL GRIP. I CAN CUT PRECISELY AS IF I WAS CUTTING BY HAND. SLOW CONTROLLED CUTS.

  38. dale mcdermott on May 3, 2022 at 7:37 pm

I’m a builder and All my cordless tools are Milwaukee because I wanted to be on one platform and I must say I’m a fan! However I must say that I really dislike the jigsaw, that and the planer are big let downs compared to the rest of the range

  39. Yuriy S. on May 3, 2022 at 7:37 pm

    Where is Metabo? 🙂

  40. Paul Smith on May 3, 2022 at 7:38 pm

  41. Philly Fixed on May 3, 2022 at 7:39 pm

I guess we know why they’re giving away that jigsaw free with the subcompact drill/impact kit at Lowe’s here in the US…

  42. Cameron Hill on May 3, 2022 at 7:40 pm

I have the Dewalt jigsaw, haven’t used it much but when I have used it it has been great, one of the guys I work with borrowed to cut out a notch for a cavity slider handle it it cut perfect with a super fine blade with absolutely no tear out on nice finished timber, big 👍 up from me.

  43. Michael Prince on May 3, 2022 at 7:41 pm

I have both versions of the makita and i always go for the non brushed version.

  44. Tim Mortimer on May 3, 2022 at 7:41 pm

Just got the hikoki 36v jigsaw its far better built than the milwaukee and dewalt and smooth not as rough

  45. Cary Swoveland on May 3, 2022 at 7:43 pm

Which do you prefer, the Dewalt or the older 18v Makita wih a brushed motor?

  46. sixtyfiveford on May 3, 2022 at 7:43 pm

Love my Makita tools but choose to go with the DeWalt when I needed a jig saw. It’s an awesome tool and brings more to the table in actual real world use.

  47. 琉球教皇 on May 3, 2022 at 7:45 pm

look at what I found !!! 2.0Ah 40V Makita Batt !!! suprise from Japan, never seen it before.

  48. Dave Taylor on May 3, 2022 at 7:47 pm

Had all Bosch electric jigsaws and all good. Then one day Bosch died half way through job only replacement at short notice Makita electric. Hated it couldn’t cut straight if it tried. Went cordless and was on Metabo platform. So got one of them. Worst jigsaw I have ever had. When the adjustable foot locked up and couldn’t get it free hit it with hammer broke it and launched it. I thought give the Bosch a go again. Love it. Compact, light, cuts straight. It has the variable speed trigger that is a no brainer. No stupid soft start. Does what you want with no fuss. That Dewalt does look good though.

  49. Ariel Saulog on May 3, 2022 at 7:48 pm

Do you ever review bosch tools? Just curious…

  50. Michael Fairchild on May 3, 2022 at 7:50 pm

Id go with L shaped jigsaw from Makita.
