#1: Hell no, there is no way I’m putting nails into the board I’m working on!
Use clamps or an anti-skid material instead.
#2: If you absolutely want to secure the handle with a srew, make sure you use one without thread on the part that goes through the handle. 1: the screw might snap at some point, as it is farily weak. 2: when rotating the handle, you are actually tightening the handle against the body of the clamp (sideways motion). Also, I would probably use a dowel or a metal rod instead of a screw. Nice clamp otherwise.
#3: Instead of all these contraptions, you should focus on building a sturdier worktable instead. 😉

I’m a fan of do-it-yourself, but sometimes DIY may not be as good of an option as BUY. You can get a cheap miter box at Home Depot for $6 that won’t scratch your saw and it also has the opposite 45 and the two face angles… Similarly, this PVC cutter seems difficult to use, especially for schedule 80. You can buy a ratcheting PVC pipe cutter for about $10. You used a metal square to build a saw guide, but the metal square itself does the same job and does not put cleat marks in your piece, and will remain true forever.
I liked the bench clamp idea, though.
