5 Last Minute Holiday Gifts – Made With Scrap Wood
5 Last Minute Holiday Gifts – Made With Scrap Wood
In this video, I build five last minute gifts using scrap wood.
The difficulty level is fairly low and making these gifts is good practice for beginning woodworkers.
In the video, I make the following items:
Dog Leash Holder
Rustic Picture holder
These are relatively easy and quick to make, which is perfect for last minute gifts this holiday season or for any occasion.
Note: When using pallet wood, make sure it is not treated with any harmful chemicals. I’m using heat treated pallet wood.
Thanks for watching!

I’m a beginner woodworker and these are perfect to make
Very Nice. Thank You Happy Holidays
I appreciate that you showed your mistakes and talked about the problem solving you did to resolve them.
Great video, thanks !!!
Excellent job 👍🏻
Screw heads showing dear me, in my day slotted screw heads showing all had to be in a line up or down you would get a slap if you got it wrong. Workmanship was all then, class.
sorry I do crafts..no way could I fake gratitude for these..I throw this stuff to donation.
tacky and childish crap. but must say: done well!
book of imagination ideas would be my gift to you.
So I’ve got something that’s pretty similar to the American walnut stain that you love but is totally free. Used motor oil. I stain almost everything with it and it doesn’t cost me a dime and looks great. It dries fast and actually makes the wood water resistant. So far, I haven’t found any kind of topcoat that doesn’t work with it once you let it dry.
Happy holidays to you
Great ideas and nice finish on them .
Wish I had a planer
Yes good stuff
First video I’ve seen from this channel and I instantly subscribe. I laughed and got ideas to do presents, other than candle holders
Dude good ideas !
Pallet wood… just make sure to check the markings on the pallets before you use them. Many the originate overseas are soaked in some pretty nasty chemicals for long-term fungus and insect control. This can be really bad for you, for skin contact and sawdust inhalation. Even domestic pallets marked with relatively safe treatments can be reused and come back from overseas being treated but unmarked.
Beer flight tray is an excellent idea. Off to find scapt wood…. 🤣
Going to make a couple of the chalkboards. Thanks for the idea.
Shallac is the worst finish for a beer tray… It is alcool based so it will be affected by the beer…
hmmmm…..giving boards as christmas gifts. interesting.
If you wanted to upgrade the phone holder a bit, you could flock the groove. Having that soft velvety stuff in the groove would hide any troublesome areas in the slot and protect any device you put in there. It’s more work than painting, but it comes out really nice.
what are your thoughts on the kobalt router and router table? ive been saving up for one of those becuase it is a super good deal!
I like the beer flight idea, great work!
I love the phone stand
I love the dog leash holder, I think I’ll make a couple of those for friends and family.
LOVE the beer flight and chalkboard ideas! Thanks for sharing!
finally someone says simple or last minute and it really is, can be done with simple tools, nice man, subscribed here
Finally I love it not always with rope. My husband just got new tools . I want a curio cabinet next.
I’m convinced dude is just showing off as many of his tools as he can. 🤣🤷🏽♂️
Your cellphone holders are AMAZING…
I’ve been making them also. I needed a cellphone holder for a few zoom calls during covid. I use a 5° cut on a 4×4 about 2 1/2 thick…

Daver I completely appreciate all your awesome and cool gifts that you are talented enough to come up with. However, many of us don’t have the tools that you do me being one of them. Can you show us how to make cool gifts without very expensive tools such as the ones that you have. I am a single woman no garage and no way to even store them if I had them meaning the tools. Can you teach us how to make cool gifts without having very expensive tools to complete them. Thanks so much hope to see something I can make without buying thousands of dollars worth of tools thank you
