Here’s my bonus comment. The spring loaded automatic center punch is a must have forever vehicle. It’s the best thing for breaking a window if you were to be trapped need out. Conversely if you come up on the situation where somebody needs to get in a car, it’s fabulous for that as well. And all my years with the rescue squad I make sure I had one in my belt pack all the time. Just put it in the corner, give it a push and the tempered glass shatters.

I’m watching this video again (5 mo later) before bed and thinking…did this guy really make the promo code "SMALLTOOL"? lol

  3. Mossback H on March 6, 2023 at 6:58 am

    More gold.

  4. DaveThePius on March 6, 2023 at 7:01 am

Great video!! I just picked up the right-angle attachment in a pack with DeWalt driver bits for under 15 bucks on clearance at HD. They seem to be show up in bit kits quite often.

  5. Havoc Maverick on March 6, 2023 at 7:02 am

Cast iron and chrome that is rusted for 100$? That is crazy

  6. christopher johnson on March 6, 2023 at 7:03 am

im sorry man i think paying for a center punch is insane , hammer and nail , hammer and anything sharp enough , save your money folks , its ok to be practical

  7. Warren Pendleton on March 6, 2023 at 7:05 am

Been carrying a Swiss Army knife for YEARS! Use it EVERYWHERE!! A DEFENITE MUST HAVE !!
Starrett makes high-end precision equipment; I wouldn’t warranty an engine rebuild without them!
Got the Kregg pocket hole jig 8 years ago for Christmas and I use it all the time! I need to pick up the Visegrip clamp to lock down the jig independent of the jig base.
One I didn’t see but consider a must is a high quality speed square. Had the cheap ones and they went out after just a couple of years. The one I have now is heavy gauge cast aluminum and machined smooth; got pencil notches for most average sizes to speed marking full sheets.
I’m cheap; I use a 10 penny nail for a center punch. With the tip ground conical and then heat treat it to toughen it up, a light tap with the hammer and I’ve got my drill piolet punched.

"I’m in a bind!" Great info, great content. Love the videos, man. It’s been inspiring to watch your channel grow. Keep it coming, bro!

  9. Chris Knobloch on March 6, 2023 at 7:07 am

I gotta tell you, man. I went into your video looking for good tool tips, but came out feeling insanely encouraged. Why? Your shirt. It grabbed my attention, I looked up the verse and got just the encouragement Jesus knew I needed today. It was awesome. (And I got good tool tips to boot!)

  10. KQs on March 6, 2023 at 7:09 am

Another thing worth noting: The Taylor Tools store link in the vid description has a great selection of high end combination squares in their "blem" section. They are super discounted and only have a blemish or smudge (mine had a smudge). You also get a free gift if you spend different tiers of $. I bought the 6 inch combo square and a Narex dual bevel 0.060" marking knife (fantastic), which also allowed me the free gift of a Glubot bottle (also fantastic) for $59 US shipped to my door. JUST the square would have normally cost like 80-100.

  11. Eidetic Goone on March 6, 2023 at 7:09 am

Seems like maybe you could use those two Dewalt right angle drilling jigs together to make a U-Turn drillng jig when you’ve forgotten one of those pocket holes and just can’t fit the drill behind the small form pocket hole jig. Maybe this is the case where ‘two rights form a (drum roll please… ) wrong-way-drill-jig?’

  12. Maceofblades on March 6, 2023 at 7:10 am

I picked up the dowelmax doweling jig you talked about in another one of your videos and I love it!!! Wonderful purchase and thanks for the heads up.

  13. Landyn Volaric on March 6, 2023 at 7:12 am

That Starrett square is a great tool for machinists. I use them all the time and they are great.

  14. Clarence Flamand on March 6, 2023 at 7:14 am

All pretty good. The $100 combination square though? How about you buy a $20 combination square and cut off six inches. Just saved $80.

  15. Tim Goodliffe on March 6, 2023 at 7:17 am

the hf combo square is 5$

  16. Frank Spoljaric on March 6, 2023 at 7:18 am

I’m a Commercial Carpenter and the 90 degree / r angle driver is a MUST! Swanson makes a combination square for quite a bit less than Starret, I’ll Pass! Made the Swanson comment Before the end LOL

  17. Jeffrey Wall on March 6, 2023 at 7:22 am

Not a nail set it’s a center punch

  18. Tim W. on March 6, 2023 at 7:22 am

I am thanking you now for the right angle attachment advice, so after I do buy one and I finally use it I won’t have to come back here and thank you.

  19. Walt Sears on March 6, 2023 at 7:25 am

Love your energy, man. Great information too!

  20. Rick Boone on March 6, 2023 at 7:26 am

"Waller" and "Wrassle"….yes, my people! 😁

  21. Ted James on March 6, 2023 at 7:27 am

Yep, you are right about that right angle drill attachment. I could’ve used one of those on a project I was working on yesterday. I’ll be getting one of those today. Thanks for the tip!

  22. NativeBear 351 on March 6, 2023 at 7:28 am

That center punch is used for breaking glass on a car if you’re trapped in water

  23. Better Than New Woodworking on March 6, 2023 at 7:28 am

Thank you for the right angle drill attachment. Came in clutch

  24. Russ Martin on March 6, 2023 at 7:29 am

They say everyone should keep one of those within easy reach in their car. Why? In an emergency when your car goes into the water, you can shatter a window and get out. By the way. Smash and grab theives use them to get into yor car to grab stuff you leave on the seat. They also smash your back side window. flip down the seat, and grab what is in your trunk. Smashed and gone in 20 seconds.

  25. Tyrone Pelfrey on March 6, 2023 at 7:30 am

  26. Steven Hall on March 6, 2023 at 7:31 am

  27. Tony Borzumato on March 6, 2023 at 7:33 am

Starrett tools are ALWAYS worth it.

  28. stripcslashes on March 6, 2023 at 7:36 am

I’ve watch tons of videos about tools recommendations but I’ve learned about at least 2 or 3 new tools I’d like to purchase. Instant subscribed.

  29. Binge Fox on March 6, 2023 at 7:36 am

I enjoy and appreciate your videos, however the Swiss Army Knife review has me puzzled. I hope at least they are a sponsor.

  30. Robert Pelland on March 6, 2023 at 7:37 am

God is my witness, I actually have them all :o)

  31. just my opinion on March 6, 2023 at 7:37 am

Do you use the tax benefits of having a business

  32. bofa on March 6, 2023 at 7:38 am

3:03. not to hijack your video but I believe Steve Ramsey has a video and/or plans to build a handle that the plywood sits in to make it easier to carry.

  33. Nancy Savidge on March 6, 2023 at 7:38 am

Where can you get your T shirts, my pastor husband would love them!

  34. Cajun Rando on March 6, 2023 at 7:38 am

I just grab the top of the sheet with one hand, lift, then grab under it with the off hand?

    What am I missing?

  35. TD_AtkinsWV on March 6, 2023 at 7:38 am

Thanks Matt great video, my favorite tool in my shop is a a toss between my sears 6" calipers or my 3" machinist square.

  36. Scooter Tramp on March 6, 2023 at 7:39 am

The blade on your Swiss Army knife that you used as a scratch awl, is actually a leather punch and the on the screwdriver blade, that isn’t a can opener, its a bottle opener. You showed us the can opener stand alone blade afterwards.

  37. Billo Pad on March 6, 2023 at 7:41 am

‘You Need These Tools’ that actually are useful tools you need!!! (& not just random sponsor crap!) Good videos Sir! 👍

  38. Matt Childs on March 6, 2023 at 7:42 am

I have a combination square that has the same measurements on each side of the ruler … so why is it worth $100? Haha. I’m a firm believer of you get what you pay for … but damn if that ain’t expensive! Love your channel, keep it up, and thanks for helping me fulfill my wood working goals! I’m just getting started and have learned so much from you and for that, I am grateful 🙏

  39. William Tobia on March 6, 2023 at 7:45 am

It’s a flathead screwdriver with a bottle opener and the other can opener opens cans by hooking over the edge of the can and cuts the top off kind of like a P-38 (John Wayne).

  40. Marvelous Maker on March 6, 2023 at 7:45 am

I think a small framing square might serve you better since they don’t go put pf square and are cheaper. 8:48

  41. Binge Fox on March 6, 2023 at 7:46 am

I would prefer the Kreg multi multi mark. Its just like s combination however it also adjusts to 45* 90* and 0*. When at 0* it can be used to set saw blade depth.

  42. James McPherson on March 6, 2023 at 7:46 am

I have the spring loaded center punch and the "plastic" squares, and a complete set of Starrett squares, 6" 12" and 18" as well as a center finder body and use them A LOT. I’ve had all of them over 20 years, and they still perform as well now as they did 20 years ago. I also enjoy watching your videos. Almost forgot, I also have a Kreg pocket hole set. Best idea I’ve ever used for assembly of cabinets, etc.

  43. Stephen Leader on March 6, 2023 at 7:47 am

The center punches are great for breaking windshields! Just saying.

  44. Matt Heffron on March 6, 2023 at 7:47 am

Love that shirt! Where is it from?

  45. ChillanVillain on March 6, 2023 at 7:47 am

I got a 6 inch combination square for $11 from home hardware. I use it all the time, one of my favourite tools.

  47. Dan Marshall on March 6, 2023 at 7:49 am

I have a handful of Starrett squares. My dad was a master machinist and I inherited some of his tools. Those squares are bomb proof. At least one of the squares is close to 70 years old and I use it all the time (no built in scribe on that one though)

  48. Lance Frank on March 6, 2023 at 7:50 am

I bought the yellow dewalt angle attachment few years back and I use it maybe 5-30 times a month. Still working!!

  49. A. Jas on March 6, 2023 at 7:50 am

I just tap the back of my drill to create a punch.

  50. BobMuir100 on March 6, 2023 at 7:52 am
