5 Woodworking Projects That Sell Part 1 – Low Cost High Profit – Make Money Woodworking

5 Woodworking Projects That Sell Part 1 – Low Cost High Profit – Make Money Woodworking

Grow your woodworking business with “smalls”! This will be a two-part video as I go into deeper detail on making these items.
Often, smaller items are looked over by new builders looking to make a name for themselves because they are looking for “that one build” that they can sell for a ton of money. They aren’t considering the cost of the build and the time spent making it. Ultimately any business comes down to profit margins. I’ll give you a few examples of how selling items that anyone can afford can generate crazy sales with minimal cost of goods sold!

Sometimes we overthink things when the most profitable items we are looking past. Let’s change that.

Just bought my first set of plans, and I’m so impressed. Thanks brother! Very clear and easy to follow, I did the tree, I had some reclaimed cedar siding that really stained well too!! Left the light color ones natural, and the dark ones I used dark walnut semi transparent, came out great

  12. Chris Howells on January 26, 2023 at 3:53 am

I’m in the business of making wood soap dishes/trays to rest soap on…small item just pennies per piece…we make and sell upwards of a quarter million soap trays each year. Small wood products pay the bills!

  14. Acadieman 17 on January 26, 2023 at 3:56 am

Hey Matthew! What kind of clamps/setup did you use to glue that tree together whitout having the pieces sliding all over the place!!?? I was thinking brad nails or a band clamp to help it stay together while the glue dries?🤷‍♂️

  15. The KrummyKraftsman on January 26, 2023 at 3:56 am

I love these ideas, I happened to get a bunch of 2×6 and 2×8 from Home Depot for free… they were throwing it away, they had cut it to 3 and 4 ft pieces. Currently looking for good projects to make with that.

  16. Cigars & cars on January 26, 2023 at 3:57 am

  17. Ryan Gambler on January 26, 2023 at 3:59 am

FYI not tired of you pushing fence picket projects 🙂 keep up the good work!

  18. martino amello on January 26, 2023 at 4:00 am

Something about fence pickets is they’re sold wet and green quite often so lay them on your shop floor awhile till they dry out more. I laid one on my brand new Sawstop once and woke up the next morning to fresh rust on my new saw.. Just something to be aware of..

  19. NotableGent on January 26, 2023 at 4:01 am

I didnt know Murder Nova did woodworking. 😳 lol

  20. Jamie Dovell on January 26, 2023 at 4:07 am

How do you recommend doing the board at the top of the lantern. I don’t have anything super thin but my condundrum is how to attach it. It looks like this is inset into the top boards. Is there are easier way to do that?

  21. MJK Creations on January 26, 2023 at 4:08 am

Thank you for this! I won’t be able to do it this year (still doing my garage/workshop reno), but for next year? I’ll absolutely build stuff like this. It’s great ideas!

  22. Robin Cumberland on January 26, 2023 at 4:08 am

Very nice ideas, but I have a question. Are you suppose to put treated wood inside?

  23. Teresa Lynn on January 26, 2023 at 4:09 am

    Where is the template?

  24. Michael Peele on January 26, 2023 at 4:13 am

Carhart should sponsor your videos LOL
As always great info, thanks Matthew!

  25. Diane Macfie-Loucks on January 26, 2023 at 4:13 am

    I LOVE that tree. Thx!!!!

  26. Lili Angel on January 26, 2023 at 4:15 am

I like your tree, but to give a more dimensional look, as well as a tree shape on the back side of your support, would be to make a slight enlargement of the first tree with some different branchings, and paint slightly darker shades from the front tree, to attach at the back. What do you think?

  27. Jeff Mercer on January 26, 2023 at 4:17 am

Have made plenty of money in woodworking for someone else now this guy’s got my attention

  28. Brendon Willoughby on January 26, 2023 at 4:18 am

Hi, been enjoying the smalls videos lately and bought the Christmas Tree plans. I didn’t see plans for the present boxes on Etsy. What kind of lights should I look for on Amazon for these boxes?

  29. K Ingram on January 26, 2023 at 4:18 am

Do you sand the wood for the Christmas trees?

  30. Kim Capone on January 26, 2023 at 4:19 am

Hi Matthew, what I need to know is where to post and how to market. Thanks for your videos.

  31. Susan Blosser on January 26, 2023 at 4:19 am

I knew I was going to like you as soon as you said you didnt like gnomes. There is all kinds of things about evil gnomes. i have been binge watching your channel. Loving it so far.

  32. Robert Herbstzuber on January 26, 2023 at 4:20 am

So these are all the treated pine fence pickets?

  33. Frank King on January 26, 2023 at 4:20 am

Hey been watching your videos for over a year now and still trying to figure out what a “fence picket” is? I’m Canadian! Bahahahaha, that’s not familiar slang up here. What’s another name for it?

  34. Bryan Medley on January 26, 2023 at 4:20 am

One question. On alot of small builds that uses Brad nails, what method of brads do you like. Air nailer or 20v nailer. Got a air nailer with a 2 lbs tank but thinking about getting a dewalt xr 20v nailer. What’s your thoughts. Worth the upgrade?.

  35. Wendy Welsh on January 26, 2023 at 4:20 am

Loving your videos! Are the treated wood pickets safe to have inside the house? Thank you.

  36. Christina Bowie on January 26, 2023 at 4:23 am

Love your "smalls" videos and I’m with ya on the gnomes. You were right about the wood trees and presents. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to make them but they were flying off another crafters shelves. I was so dishearteded to see he was underselling them for a mere $20 for the trees. Santa will need to bring me a miter saw to compete or I need to get creative and put my own spin on it as you are always suggesting. Thank you for the inspiration, can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

  37. Patricia Carr on January 26, 2023 at 4:24 am

Oh my goodness, I laughed out loud when you commented on gnomes!!😂

  38. Angie Williams on January 26, 2023 at 4:25 am

All great ideas. I especially love the Christmas Tree. And I have all kinds of scraps that I can use to make it rather than buy the fence pickets. Even though they are cheap… Free is even better. LOL. I do appreciate you providing the template to purchase. I’m sure I have something I could use. But I like this one. So I bought the plans. Thank you!

  39. Kevin Rippeth on January 26, 2023 at 4:27 am

Thank you for the video, and the great detailed plan on etsy. I put a twist on ours. Made a family tree with photos. Once again thank you and merry Christmas.

Also, I made templates for a 2/3 and a 1/2 size tree. Starting those today. These are the bomb!!!

  45. Jay Wardell on January 26, 2023 at 4:34 am

H ow do I get the tree plans?
