54 – Woodworking 101 FREE ONLINE COURSE LESSON 1 Part 1 of 8 The Circular Saw
This is the first video in our free 16 week woodworking 101 online course.
Lesson number one is a basic introduction to the tools needed for woodworking. Since it is a long video we have broken it down into 8 conveniently short parts.
This segment covers the circular saw.
This is a specifically designed curriculum created to teach all of the essentials of woodworking to take someone with no knowledge to the level of a moderately experienced woodworker. The entire course is free and will be posted online. During the course we will also be practicing our newly developed skills by building projects. We will provide plans for all course projects free on our website.
The course will cover a comprehensive introduction to all necessary woodworking tools, lumber selection, adhesives, joinery, building methods, styles, sanding, finish prep, final finish, and much more…

Tools use aren’t part of wood working I believe. But are a separated subject, perhaps make "tools tutorials videos". Too long, too much talking…
I feel lucky to have find this free course which is very valueable. Best regards for James who is making the effort so that carpentry students like me will benefit a lot from these lessons. Thank you James
Great videos! I just bought a house and am looking at the Spring tool sales at Home Depot and Lowes, and am trying to figure out what to get. Question on tablesaws: I recently learned of the Stopsaw brand/type. I am attracted to this as I’m new and really don’t want to lose a finger. So, do you think its worth the price? Also, my nephew who is starting out in the trades was telling me that when the blade is stopped, it costs a lot of money to repair the system. Is that true? Thanks!
Great video.
Nathan Brownhill why can’t you build this
This was great, I have been researching "weekend woodworking projects magazine download" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across – Yanathew Wood Waggler – (do a google search )?
It is a smashing exclusive product for building amazing sheds and your own wood work projects without the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy got cool success with it.
Thank you and your daughter’s for this amazing tutorial!!
THIS WAS GOOD INFORATION FOR A BEGINNER WHICH i AM. THANKS A BUNCH
This is amazing, just watching this randomly for the first time. Interested In doing the course.
Is there a place I can find tutorials with manual tools, don’t have room for electrical tools or even reliable electricity where I am but I am really interested in learning.
Thank you James for a very informative clip. Valuable lessons I have learnt today. This will assist me as I am a beginner in carpentry. All the best and much appreciated your efforts
Hi James. This is wonderful, you have such a great way of explaining things. I am a lady in my mid sixties and I have always wanted to learn woodwork. I have bought books but found them hard to follow. I cannot thank you enough for what you are doing. God Bless you.
Thank you for this. I am interested in doing small projects at home and they way you explain and break things down has given me confidence to try.
Wow. So great for beginners. Thanks. You have a new subscriber
Ty so much you gracious man you.
Just graduated from college and my degree and job got me behind a desk all day. Looking to get into woodworking as a passion hobby, very much looking forward to learning some basics from you. Thanks for your videos, I’m sure they’ll be a great help on my journey!
Hi, thanks for your video that explain woodwork for beginners, I am interested to learn on line but I need more information about the course and if there is practices end of the course what a level of the certificate and can I get a job as a carpenter or this just for personal use only
Where are the other tutorial videos?
Thanks from UK. I’m looking into doing a Luton van camper conversion and need this.
This is awesome man. Respect for this.
No knowledge about woodwk but have passion for nice wood,we I get the concept of woodwk
hi James, I’m here 2 years after you posted these and just watched your first video. If it matters, I’m a pretty big critic of people who present/create content/write blogs/make videos and are awful in communication – speaking/writing/grammar. You’re the complete opposite….SO easy to listen to, understand, and appreciate. GREAT job. I will be looking for more. I’m a motivated but *brand new* woodworker and hope to learn enough to be dangerous. Will look for your patreon, FB group, etc, etc. Thank you for your professionalism.
Thanks man 👍🏿. This is very useful and helps me.
great tips and lesson! thank you!
You are a gifted teacher.
Thank You Sr ✏️💻📐✌🏻🤎
Thank you so much for this series! THIS is what YouTube should be for and YOU are the perfect example of a GREAT Instructor! At 40 years old, I feel like I should know a lot of this, but never learned, and over the years became too embarrassed to ask. Now, I feel like I can gain some really valuable life skills and pass them down to my kids, Thanks!
