6 Well Used Table Saws – Comparison & Review *The Good, Bad & Ugly
6 Well Used Table Saws – Comparison & Review *The Good, Bad & Ugly
After years of use, Lets compare over 6 well used popular portable table saws. I’ll tell you which one lasted the longest & what to avoid. DeWALT, Makita, Porter Cable, Craftsman, Ryobi & more.
IMO Makita & DeWalt are well built machines.
After doing a little research turns out Porter Cable was owned by delta tools. Delta owned Porter Cable tools & in 2o11 was bought out by a taiwanese company. Now Delta is no longer made in the usa but rather over seas & porter cable imo has suffered tremendously in quality. I may pick up a few new routers & a belt sander before those turn into junk as well.
Dont waste good money on a porter cable table saw. My buddy now has 2 saws that the blade doesn’t want to lift up & down, good luck…
Hi, i have had the exact same issue with my porter cable 220TS. I have thoroughly cleaned it, replaced the plastic gears with the only available (metal) replacement parts and tried a variety of other things and I cannot get my blade to raise and lower without turning it upside down, cleaning and turning it myself. It constantly locks up. Despite the grinding sound, which mine had even when it was brand new, your repair is exactly what i need to do to mine. I have scoured the internet for a fix that i haven’t tried! Can you please tell me more about the alignment work you did on yours! I would REALLY appreciate it! As much as you can tell me or describe would be great!
Great yob
Dude…. slow down.. you’re breathing hard through the whole vid. And jumping all over the place. Are you on meth or something… horrible vid!!!
I got a table saw for 5 bucks at a garage sale
For the portacable, the first one you reviewed, that lock handle to lock the the angle, pull out out then rotate it to the right then tighten again, if still not holding, repeat..
bosh is the best of all
HI mike, just I’m starting doing small projects at home, I don’t
have too much experience working on wood, just I discovered a good hobby so I would like to buy a table saw, but I don’t want investment too much money in sometime that I don’t know if I’m going keep doing. could you recommend any for my small projects at home?
Lots of great info. Subbed.
I have two table saws and thought that was excessive. With all those saws you could have had a cabinet saw and kept one little one. The only saw I would considered on that bunch is the Makita.
Nice review. No surprise that the Makita and DeWalts get the best ratings
I am planning to buy a dw745 now I am Shure of it tang’s for the tip very helpful tomorrow is the day
How much Red Bull did you drink before you made the video?
There are several factors in diy table saws. One resource I discovered which successfully combines these is the Wilfs wood blueprint (check it out on google) without a doubt the best plan that I have ever seen. Check out the incredible information .
I bought a new PC jigsaw and it is garbage, ended up buying a 1990’s one – perfect. Old Porter Cable and new are two different beats. The USA stuff is where their reputation came from.

That thing is a miter gauge.
Good video man, I’m thinking I’ll get a Dewalt.
Porter cable is only 100$ right now. Lol with a stand
I "thumbs up’d" and subscribed less then 1 minute into this video.
If only the Dewalt would take a dado stack
Black & Decker (who owns Porter Cable and DeWalt) has relegated the Porter Cable brand to cover the market space between DeWalt and their low end Black & Decker garbage. Porter Cable still has great routers, and Black & Decker makes decent lawn and garden equipment.
*Wonderful.>>>**ur2.pl/860** I have not had a chance to use it a lot, but the reduction in snipe is fantastic*
Usually to take the riving knife off a dewalt you have to take off the blade cover, unscrew a knob and then push it in, while the knob is pushed in you can slide the riving knife out.
Great review man !!!!! Just what I needed !!!!…….also happy because, the older the better !!!!! So, I am getting better !!! LOL….
great review, I got the Dewalt 🙂
what do you do why the need for so many table saws?
Damn I think he has a table saw or 12
The Craftsman broke cause it is aluminum
Those ryobi saws height adjusting handles break on them all the time..sad part many of the ones as new as 2015 you can not get the replacement for them as well as many parts..
hey thanks for the info on the makita 2703.
haay!
What table saw would you say is most quiet (probably induction motor??) but still decent quality…? ive heard axminister has one quiet but i read bad reviews about it…. i need a table saw for my small garage workshop that wont disturb my neighbours too much…
tnx and great reviews!
Nice review. You pay for quality, just one time.
This was a very useful review because their histories are known to you.
Very good video. Thanks.
Too bad you don’t own a Ridgid
to add to the review. I like mine a lot.
I am a DIYer myself, but I have never used a table saw all my life, though I have used circular saws by hand, and not mounted like a table saw. I am awed at seeing one craftsman owning a lot of table saws. Thanks for sharing.
3 and 8 of an inch.. What’s that in normal measurements?
The Ryobi here in Northern CA is $129, $199 with a fancy stand
Are you going to try out the DeWalt flex volt table saw?
Do these saws have a long enough arbour for a dado blade(s)
Thanks for sharing
You are not so good but also not a bad but actually, you are very honest
I want the DeWalt 745 but it’s $849 whereas the cheapie Ozito is $170. I know that you get what you pay for, but I can afford the cheapie.
The initial shock of seeing 15 table saws in your garage cracks me up 🙂 Love your videos and appreciate the great descriptions you provide!
Thank you , but I can’t believe you leave the cords coiled up when in use, –
Great video! Thanks for the info, very helpful.
Wicked sick ponytail.
Not gonna lie… I skipped to the end. … so, favs are the Dewalt & 70’s craftsman/Makita. Nice!
The Porter Cable the bevel gears are two close. Try setting the gears with a piece of paper. Run the gears and put a piece of paper between them. If the gears tear the paper the gears are two close. Adjust the gear so all it does is leaves the gear impression on the paper without tearing the paper. If the paper still tears you may have burrs on the gears. This could be cleaned up with a file
You talk way too fast.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Great info.
Can table saws handle acrylic/plexiglass plastic?
