David I love the colors in your shop, and the designs on your bench. And this project is genius!

  2. silentscribes on May 19, 2022 at 7:37 pm

    Great Work!

  3. chris davis on May 19, 2022 at 7:38 pm

Another great video Dave. Just a thought…what if some shots of you on stage happened to fall into a project video? Or some shots of you in the studio making the music everyone hears. Or you, on stage leaning into the mike screaming "sand in the place where you live!" Anyway, you have inspired me to make something.

I like that you emphasized 2 power tools.
I hate it when someone says, "You can make this with just 3 tools" and proceed to used about 10.
    Nice easy project.

  7. Mike Bommarito on May 19, 2022 at 7:40 pm

Oh sure, I could make that stool too if I had a jigsaw and a drill, but I’m not rich.
But seriously, nice job showing how a beginner project can be taken to the next level.

    Thanks David!

  11. Pasquale DeAngelis on May 19, 2022 at 7:46 pm

I bought the plans and made the stool. I made a few mistakes, but otherwise a very satisfying build for a beginner woodworker.

  12. Tim Sterling on May 19, 2022 at 7:47 pm

You’re only like an hr and a half north of me. I’m down here in Van Wert! Now I know where to go to get decent wood finally!

  22. Hal Schmerer on May 19, 2022 at 8:03 pm

Did you really finish that second stool with Jim Beam? Seems like a waste of really good bourbon.

  23. T.J. Postal on May 19, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Pffft, I’m going to make MY simple step stool with just a corkscrew and a dull steak knife. No fancy shmancy tools.

  24. Dillon Davis on May 19, 2022 at 8:05 pm

What if we don’t have a flush trim saw bc I have the wood I got pine but I went and bought the 5/16 dowel

  25. Earl Cummings on May 19, 2022 at 8:06 pm

The super glue tip between the wood glue is a tip I will be using……. everybody talks about the step stool being a "basic starter project" ……been making them for a while and making money too! Poplar wood is popular with it’s grain color variations……. I use cherry and walnut for customers who want a "heirloom". The question has been asked several times…..what was the finish you used?

  26. Jiggsy's Shed on May 19, 2022 at 8:10 pm

Great demo and nice little stool. Thank you for sharing.

  27. HamOnTheCob on May 19, 2022 at 8:10 pm

I adore the fact you have a Lionel Richie picture on your wall. He’s my all-time favorite.

  28. Patrick Schardt on May 19, 2022 at 8:11 pm

Thanks for showing a project that can be done with almost no power tools

I don’t have anything except a drill. So this project could be done a coping saw I would imagine

Quick story if I may (scroll past if bored): I am married to a beautiful, amazing woman, who also came with a beautiful, amazing 9 year old daughter. Love this kid to death, but being a stepdad can be tricky when trying to find common interests. So I get up this morning before everyone, just hangin’ out watching your latest video when Ali comes down the stairs and flops down on the couch. She got so into the video. Asking questions, making comments. After it was over I said, "You wanna watch something else?" She said, "More of this guy!" So we just spent the last two hours, just me and her binging a ton of your videos; her choosing each next one. I can’t tell you how exciting it was that I found common ground with this little one I love so much and it came from your videos. Thank you for all that you do and the content and inspiration you provide. (P.S. Ali also said that she loves the music in your videos)

    Great project for beginners….

You’re in my home city?! I’m visiting tomorrow – I didn’t know this place existed there. Good to know. Long live the Glass City (I’m from the Old West End)

  36. Nitch Reymond on May 19, 2022 at 8:21 pm

  37. Antoine Quirion Couture on May 19, 2022 at 8:21 pm

  38. Brad Russell on May 19, 2022 at 8:22 pm

Really feeling the new track that starts with the “complex” build at 13:20. 😎

Does using that drill press ever get old? I can’t imagine it does.

  44. Nemo on May 19, 2022 at 8:28 pm

To tell you the truth brother… I like the plain poplar one better.

  45. Carlos Claros on May 19, 2022 at 8:30 pm

I really like your videos and I have purchased some of your books. I like how you used “entry” level tools as a comparison. I was wondering how you can rate the amount of weight the stools can support?

  46. Bence Magyar on May 19, 2022 at 8:30 pm

Great video! Really liked the upbeat style, the music and all the popping colours 😉

  47. Terri Stroh on May 19, 2022 at 8:31 pm

Aside from a great project and video, I’m really enjoying the new (?) music.

  48. Sean Foushee on May 19, 2022 at 8:31 pm

Great info but man those colors are amazing.

  49. Clay Van Sickle on May 19, 2022 at 8:31 pm

As a millionaire woodworker, I feel left out. 😀. I dig the new shop colors!
