A CLOSER LOOK AT VERITAS MINIATURE TOOLS
A CLOSER LOOK AT VERITAS MINIATURE TOOLS
Just that. Chester Spier tries out the miniature tool collection that Veritas made and sold. Included are the block plane, plough plane, router, shoulder plane, scraper, edge plane, and spokeshave, etc.
I model wood ships and these are awesome for that. I have the nine piece set with the chisels and a couple other things, and I use them whenever i model.
they are fascinating little versions of the full sized variants, the low angle jack is really intriguing
I have a small collection of these, they where stocking stuffers from my mom at Christmas. The miniature plow plane and router plane I have used a few times. I used that router plane to clean up the dados for the dividers on the drawer till we talked about the other day. I have used the edge plane on a couple of small projects. These are cute but need to have a home in a proper miniature tool box..
They look just like the regular size ones. Maybe the miniture router plane can be a substitute for stanley 271.
I’m always on the fence on these. I love them but I know I’d try to use them for an hour or more and then shelve it. So I’m a bigger fan of this video as it talked me out of buying them, but made me want them anyhow.
Intriguing little tools and a fair assessment Chester. My inclination would be to size up the parts of any small project so that I can use the mass and stability of normal sized tools and then bring the parts down to final size. Anyhow…… thanks for this demo!
I have the tiny router plane and I use it with custom ground blades to clean out edges and tight areas after using a power router to excavate a pattern prior to gluing inlays. I could use a larger router plane with a ground down blade, but the miniature plane is cheap and works well.
I’m kind of a modeler here. Nice set. They’d be very good for some music instrument work and obviously kayak/cano work. Think I’d have to get 1 or 2 big tools for the cash. Nicely built. I’d love to have a set.
These would be useful to someone making their own buildings and scenic items for a model railroad.
I have the full set because I collect and like tools. They are well made and functional but let’s face it NOT REALLY NECESSARY.
