Adding Drawers to the 1-Hour Workbench // Woodworking Shop Project

Adding Drawers to the 1-Hour Workbench // Woodworking Shop Project

In this #woodworking project, I add #drawers to my 1-Hour #Workbench. I was in need of some shallow drawers, so these will definitely come in handy.

Plans for these drawers are available on my website:

I really like that the videos are not filled with a lot of unnecessary dialogue. It is direct and to the point, which I really appreciate. So many DIY videos are filled with unwanted chit chat which really detracts from the projects. I also like the fast motion which is slow enough to see what’s happening. Great job!

That is smart to add the structural 2 x 4s at the end and therefore not to rely on the squareness of the original workbench. Trying to fit a drawer perfectly between my vertical uprights would be nightmare. Great video!

Thanks for the FF, and for not saying a word! Too many vids out there with guys that just want to hear themselves talk.

If you notice pocket holes in the drawer frames for no reason, it’s because I had the jig set incorrectly and drilled them too deep. So instead I just used glue and pin nails.

Really great video…but am I the only person that leaves my bench top overlapping by an inch and a half for clamping purposes?

Hi there I don’t know if any one has asked this, but are you able to add metric sizing to your plans?

  29. ESPNEWS8 on March 19, 2023 at 7:34 am

How wide and how long is your work table? I made last year but I’m going to make a bigger one in a few weeks. I’m looking into trying to incorporate some drawers.

  30. Samcraft on March 19, 2023 at 7:38 am

Fantastic solution and upgrade to the workbench! I’m planning something similar for my CNC table and this video was very helpful!

Love to see your video 👍👍👍👍

  33. Dan Cahill on March 19, 2023 at 7:42 am

    Love this easy-to-build bench !
I used his ideas on my workbench frame. But there is one minor drawback to adding these drawers the way that he did. You loose the overhang on the front side, that you could have used for clamping !
You add some convenience and loose some convenience !
    Allways a trade-off I guess. 😞

  34. Victor Ruiz-Rios on March 19, 2023 at 7:43 am

Hey brother what kind of table saw do you reccomend?

  35. Chris Rakkestad on March 19, 2023 at 7:45 am

Damn, YouTube has such great plywood. Can’t get anything like that in Sweden

GREAT JOB ON THE BENCH .THANK YOU .FROM DOUG

  37. WoodyHaroo on March 19, 2023 at 7:50 am

I made my benches almost exactly the same. Some things I don’t like about it is that I can’t use my smaller clamps on the edge, and I bump my shin on the bottom beam holding the shelf. If anyone has a good looking solution I love to see it

  38. Matt Creator on March 19, 2023 at 7:51 am

How do you space drawers for slides? The width seems important. Last time mine would jam up o.O

  39. jjforeal on March 19, 2023 at 7:53 am

I definitely would have routed a recess for the drawer bottoms to fit into the sides so you could put a little weight inside.
