I see no purpose in the two 45 deg cuts at first . Why not just one? Nonetheless it is truly beautiful joinery .

The marking out is incredibly poor. The sawing is incredibly poor. He rescues it all with the chisel. Classic under-cut shoulders keep the final joint-lines tight. What you don’t see are the multitude of offer-up-and-adjust steps. It’s just "hey presto, it fits" in one fake final fitting.

  36. Dan Aron West on October 21, 2022 at 2:28 am

Mr. H. is a master at his craft. I see and save many of his videos. But in this video, my comment is one I see all too often in this particular joint. To make a mortise and tenon with two slots as if to make a TAPERED mortise and tenon and not do it but still place two wedges in the open areas to look like a Tapered mortise and tenon is like kissing your sister. From the unknowing, it looks good, but it is NOT. This joint gets a grade of -C

Some one I used to work for had a motto, "I have done so much with so little that I can now do anything with nothing". You don’t have all the fancy tools, but do beautiful work!

  47. GhettoGandhiFPV on October 21, 2022 at 2:43 am

You truly are a master of the craft, to be able to work so precisely with the most basic of tools is something any self respecting joiner should aspire to
