Automated Table Saw Fence (Rip-it)

Automated Table Saw Fence (Rip-it)

I have been fortunate enough to get my hands on a prototype Rip-it table saw fence. The Rip-it fence allows you to input a distance and the fence moves by itself to that precise position.

Could I use this to cut finger joints?

  2. TGRIPZ on October 16, 2023 at 9:57 pm

What an awesome prototype, that would be a great addition to the quiver

  7. The A.D.D Maker on October 16, 2023 at 10:03 pm

I used something similar on a chop saw years ago. I’ve always wondered why it hasn’t been used on other tools.

What if you could have all the money in the world! For the price, I could set up an entire shop!

    Nice

  12. diego rodriguez on October 16, 2023 at 10:11 pm

Once it becomes voice command it will sell like candy

  13. Markus Arendt on October 16, 2023 at 10:12 pm

Most panel saws nowadays are equipped with digital controls for blade height, angle as well as fence movement. In europe at least

  14. Andrew Leith on October 16, 2023 at 10:13 pm

Arduino pinion gear and a servo a touch screen. Can you flip between inches and mm? Can you program a list of favorites if your production shop has constant rips A,B ,C to make an object?

  15. Ron Baer on October 16, 2023 at 10:14 pm

Over $1200, hard pass for me.

  16. JT1989 on October 16, 2023 at 10:14 pm

Looks great but at msrp of $1700 you’d need one hell of a shop to justify it

  17. Aaron Myers on October 16, 2023 at 10:16 pm

    That’s cool.

  18. The Only Way To GTA on October 16, 2023 at 10:17 pm

That’s killer! I’ve been thinking lately how useful something like that would be.

  19. Lemonypeach on October 16, 2023 at 10:18 pm

I really hope these guys dont get this idea stolen. This is a mega butt kicken game reinventer changer things idea/improvement.

  20. Yo Mamma on October 16, 2023 at 10:19 pm

Yea, that’s, that’s cool, very very nice.

  21. thechadshu on October 16, 2023 at 10:21 pm

I think it’s awesome, but I wouldn’t pay the 1300 Dollars for it.

  25. Fede Vera on October 16, 2023 at 10:30 pm

    Innecesario. ❤

  26. cookedchicken on October 16, 2023 at 10:32 pm

there is already a panel saw with this function but it dosen’t have the touch drag thing

  27. John David on October 16, 2023 at 10:32 pm

You are solving a problem that we don’t have. Moving the fence is the easiest part of woodworking.

  28. carl brown on October 16, 2023 at 10:33 pm

    🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

  29. Zhu Music on October 16, 2023 at 10:33 pm

    Show de bola

  31. GCoca on October 16, 2023 at 10:36 pm

So its like a tiger fence? Or is there something that sets it apart?

  32. Cody on October 16, 2023 at 10:36 pm

I think this would be cool to call out measurements to Alexa or Google and have it move the fence for you too.

  33. Sean Wimpfheimer on October 16, 2023 at 10:38 pm

automated fences are great until theres a problem with them…

  34. Broomfield’s Dual-sport on October 16, 2023 at 10:39 pm

Id still messaure every cut lol

  35. Brisbane Kilarny on October 16, 2023 at 10:40 pm

I used one on a straight line machine 5 years ago. Punch in the width and press the button. It worked great until it stopped working.

  36. Henry Hole on October 16, 2023 at 10:41 pm

I would happily exchange my money for this

  37. Garry Dye on October 16, 2023 at 10:41 pm

It just seems like it is creating a solution to a problem that doesn’t really exist. Plus…its just one more thing to break like electric windows on your car. Ever see a car with roll down widows not work? I’ll go with ….just because you can…doesn’t always mean you should.

  38. Defenestrator on October 16, 2023 at 10:41 pm

Would be great on sheet metal shears or chop saw to

  39. timothy mcnamara on October 16, 2023 at 10:44 pm

Is there any reference surface on the outfeed end to help maintain square?

  40. John Wayne on October 16, 2023 at 10:44 pm

No matter what it will be cost prohibitive.

  41. L.g Lucid on October 16, 2023 at 10:44 pm

WOW. . . I never thought I would see this 💡 idea come to fruition. 🤔

  42. arthur dent on October 16, 2023 at 10:45 pm

Well let’s hope it’s more accurate than the hole he drilled in that piece of angle.

  43. Duc Phan on October 16, 2023 at 10:47 pm

man, wanted one but it’s sold out on the kickstarter!

  44. VLXVNDR on October 16, 2023 at 10:47 pm

If it already doesn’t, I think a good add to its design would be a stick on strip (sticker) that runs either end of the table it’s connected to. Just like a ruler the sticker would have incremental markings (QR Code for example) that a laser would read to keep exact measurements in relation to the saw blade to ensure accuracy. This would eliminate discrepancies if the rail was to wear or move. A basic calibration type system.

  45. Tim Keepers on October 16, 2023 at 10:47 pm

I like how you left nothing pinned in the comments

  46. Carlos Chacon on October 16, 2023 at 10:47 pm

    Wow awesome,!!!!

  47. Jeff Zweygardt on October 16, 2023 at 10:48 pm

I thought this was an ok idea until they started cutting the thin slices at the end. That’s a real time saver for stuff like that.

  48. ObiwanNekody on October 16, 2023 at 10:50 pm

    I don’t see the pinned comment link😢

  49. T. Bone on October 16, 2023 at 10:50 pm

What keeps the fence locked into place so it doesn’t move? Also having the table on a drill press motorized to raise up and down would be a good add on accessory.

  50. Boonphit Phanthavong on October 16, 2023 at 10:51 pm

Omg!! That would be extremely helpful!
