  3. Zena McFarland on April 6, 2022 at 6:48 pm

I’m a beginner, (like a beginner for dummie) I don’t have a garage to buy or put my woodworking supplies at. I’m in a apartment, what do I buy for beginner that lives in apt?

  4. richie4540 on April 6, 2022 at 6:50 pm

Go to garage sales and buy good quality old tools to build your tool collection.

Or if you want to learn actual skills, a hammer, hand saw, chisel, smoothing plane, sanding block, sandpaper. Cordless drill if you must.

  8. Betty Wells on April 6, 2022 at 6:55 pm

Hey man, I just wanted to say thank you for taking your time and energy to put this video out. I have to build my mother new cabinets.. well, I could but them, but why? I figure the money I’d spend on the cabinets is more than it would cost to buy all the tools needed. So, here’s my question. How do I build a cabinet?? Lol, kidding, I’ll teach myself. The real question is, what do I need? I’m considering quitting my job and working for myself building cabinets. I’d be comfortable spending between 5 to 8 thousand getting up and running. Thanks, again!

Wish you’d post more middle of the road tools. $400 tools aren’t really for beginners unless they have great paying jobs or a winning lottery ticket.

  10. Richie Subron on April 6, 2022 at 6:57 pm

    Thank for the great video.
I just need an advice from you.
I will have to do laminate flooring and I am confusing to buy either a circular saw or a jig saw.I only have the choice to buy one among the two.So what do suggest me which is more useful please.

  11. Eric Davis on April 6, 2022 at 6:57 pm

This video is great because I’m trying to keep a tight budget as I get into woodworking, but does anyone out there show projects done only with these simple tools? All the videos on WWs channel use tools I will probably never own. What projects can I do with this "Basic Set"?

    Woodworking Beginner:
This test is only if you want to saw with precision, with a miter saw. (test is not for rough work).
    Tips and Test:
Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)!
Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade.
Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt.
Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing .
And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft.
It is very important that everything is aligned.
Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade.
    Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact / Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH.

(This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails).

(If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing.

Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed).

Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine.

Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing (test is completed).

Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade.

Step-5. When you measure the vertical angle square of you’re sawblade don’t forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing.

Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing.(don’t go for that).

Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner…

For an antiquing repair job, what glue and filler would suggest?

  33. Ryan Gray on April 6, 2022 at 7:21 pm

Great video. This was very informative to watch. I’d definitely agree that any new person getting into wood working should know about the basic and essential equipment to have. I’ve buying my woodcraft supplies from D & D Woodcrafts for sometime now and I’ve always find high quality saw blades and tools from them.

I like this wood working book “Bαzοmο Tdy Plαn” (Google it). Not just does it cover woodworking tactics, but it even explains the expansion cycles of trees that lead to the characteristics that carpenters find favorable in lumber. I also gave my father another copy. .

I did not plan to make use of this woodworking book, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* but instead curious about it. I had been truly amazed right after trying it. I was seeking to learn more about the art of woodworking, and was not disappointed. I found many topics such as wood types and designing your workshop.

you didnt mention the need for clamps, and more clamps, and even more clamps 🙂

  48. Clarence Sanders on April 6, 2022 at 7:38 pm

This is a good woodworking book, “Bαzοmο Tdy Plαn” (Google it). I am a graduate of a one-year carpentry course from a local tech college. Of all books I`ve read during my study about carpentry, I do think this is the finest book I`ve read so far. It includes useful photos and goes over almost everything. .
