Nice tutorial but the finished case seems to taper from the viewer’s right to left.Or is it an optical illusion?

Nice done. But I’m asking myself, is dado+glue+screws not an overkill? I understand the sturdy part of the story.

  11. Logan Early on January 16, 2019 at 8:24 pm

Very nice. Could you use a Brad nailer instead of the extra time of counter sinking, plugs, and flush cutting?

  12. Vlad Koshel on January 16, 2019 at 8:25 pm

Go to woodprix website if you’d like to know how to make it easy. Good solution for every woodworker.

I built a 5 shelf bookcase using 3/4" poplar wood with a plywood backing approximately 6′ high by 3′ wide by 9 in depth. The bookcase will easily wobble forward and backwards. All sides seem level, could you help me make this not wobble without hanging to the wall? thank you

This is joinery not carpentry, carpenters work with sawn timber joiners work with planed timber, I spent a 5 year apprenticeship to be a carpenter and joiner.

There’s at least a couple good reasons to hold that bottom board back from the edge and none for trying to make it flush which you can easily see in the video that it is not. I would expect someone with your experience to know that. Other than that good job and thanks for the video, keep up the good work

Safety note…. if making a taller bookcase make sure you secure it onto the wall with plugs and screws. Many children have died from tipping up such items climbing or pulling on them. One loaded with books, they’re real heavy. Good project.

now do it with just some glue, a chisel, saw and hammer ;P
