I know it’s probably hard to cover everything in a video like this but grizzly has some decent options too would like to hear what you think
damn. i think you sold me on the big dewalt.
thank god i don’t need extra smooth wood i guess…
I believe from personal experience. Once you break the $400 plateau
The 2 speed Dewalt with the 4 post system that is spread out for better rigidity and accuracy rules the long term commitment!
Its heavy for sure but when tuned up can save you hours of dusty sanding along with paper.
"that’s $399 just for the head, that better be some smooth wood" I know I’m naughty, but I totally thought you were gonna end that sentence with the word " head " again lol
How can a bear learn to use the internet to make youtube video about tools? He even wears clothes!!!
This makes me angry and confused
The Rikon is not helical. It has the same spiral head as the Wen.
Dude…. get ride of the animation,
Otherwise the information is good, but focus on the reason you posted the video
I’m watching this video as of 8-31-22 and agree with your prices being “high” in your video, but now they are even HIGHER!!
if you think the helical for the DeWalt is expensive , Let me make your heart stop Jet 16" full 16" planer, the helical head cost over a $ 800.00 that’s just just the head when i bought this planer yrs ago i think i paid just over $2 grand 3 blade system. yea i know it’s professional grade. total weight just under 800lbs
The audio cutting in and out made me stop watching after a minute.
The bear thing very distracting, could have used the entire screen to show tool
How am I not already subbed to this channel?
Wilkerson is sponsored by Triton. That’s why she’s a big proponent of them.
Love the show bro!!
That was great
seen plenty of reviews that indicate a better finish with the three blade than even the shelix helical cutterheads… and of course seen plenty of reviews that say the very opposite….
Also I must disclose that the 1 speed Dewalt is one of the loudest small planners that I have used so of in for a niclel in for a dime, a spiral head would be a good additional investment over the long run 🏃♂️
😏 pretty sure this is one of the top planers
There’s a big difference between helical and helical style. Check the specs!
Did anyone here got for the WEN 3 blade? Any updates?
What about makita 2012NB ?
Bear, thanks for the information. I’m just getting ready to add a planer to my shop. I read a lot about snipe and what causes it. My question is: if one has the space, wouldn’t in-feed and outfeed tables eliminate (or greatly reduce) snipe, thereby keeping the board in plane with the bed in the planer?
Love the bear avatar. Keep it forever.
Wish this was on Saturday mornings when I was a kid.
With WEN but another if it’s under warranty and clean up the broken on and return it as broken. It’s no less unethical than WEN not providing warranty!
Started watching didn’t make it 20 seconds…..the bear thing is too weird. thumbs down!
I’m in the market for thickness planer and am not against buying a lesser brand name if it performs, i bought the Hercules 12” miter saw over DeWalt 780 for this reason. The Hercules IMO is as well built as DeWalt and having owned it for 2 years i made the correct choice. However, when it comes to a thickness planner I am not messing around and getting one that has consistent good/top reviews so going with the DW375.
Lmfao… why is this a vtuber
What with the talking bear?! It’s weird.
WHY IS NO ONE REVIEWING THE MAKITA SMALL PLANER PEOPLE RAVE ABOUT IT . i HAVE THE 2040 2 BLADE PLANER AND IT PLANES SMOOTHER THAN ANY BLADE PLANER I’VE EVER SEEN
Wtf you made me sit thru ads to see a dumb talking bear
Where was the Makita?
The rikon is a spiral head. “Helical style” just means “spiral” and they’re name dropping helical for the up sale value from confusion like i just watched in your video.
Spiral has another benefit of smaller chips that don’t clog your dust extraction ports up. Helical and spiral will do better on figured woods as well.
Would you recommend the $45 extra for 2 years extra coverage by HD for the Wen? That still makes it pretty cheap and worry free for 2 years.
You said head & wood 😂👉😂😝
You shouldn’t waste half the screen with a cartoon if it was an image of you it would be okay but I would rather see the machine than a damn bear
I’m watching Bear, I’m watching. Digging it.
Thank you! Great video. This is really helpful to me! I’m right in the middle of a search for the right thickness planer for me! Well done!
Any thoughts on the Wahuda?
The way the bear paused at 10:26 when he brought up grizzly XD
I picked up a Dewalt planer from my local auction house. I don’t remember exactly the model but I think it is a DW734. It looked brand new including the installed blades, plus came with a new set of replacement blades. It cost me $75.00 and has worked great for years. Granted I don’t run it to often but it has done great with pine, black walnut, maple, cherry and scrap wood including pallets.
So I need a face to go along with the voice 😆
Where are you picking up the Wen brand ?
Yea, like others have said, wtf are we looking at here. The bear is so over the top that it distracts from all of this. Also embarrassing if ever caught watching this shit. You’re limiting your potential and professionalism
DAMN! Prices are up 20% from a year ago!
This channel would be so much better without the talking bear. I get it for YouTube from 2010, but in 2022 I just find it completely distracting. I have actually stopped watching these videos just because it’s so annoying. I think this channel could use a brand refresh and drop the talking bear.
The whole bear thing is chincy and off putting. If you’re scared to put yourself on camera just ha e nothing
Dude, I like it!
11:02 this bear is willing to pay extra to NOT have more plastic.
i can deal with rust on all levels.
once plastic is done, it’s done for me.
it is, however, not down and out as far as the rest of things are concerned.
i am a tree hugger, and cutter.
we need to slow down the production of this substance. i’d rather cut down a tree than make one plastic chair… or buy anything from china.
Yo what’s with the bear?
Hi Tool Bear
Dad??
