Best Upgrade For Your Table Saw Miter Gauge | Rockler Skill Builders
Best Upgrade For Your Table Saw Miter Gauge | Rockler Skill Builders
This simple upgrade to your table saw miter gauge can immediately improve your cut quality, accuracy and safety. The fence on most miter saws is too small. Add a longer fence to your miter saw and you’ll get better results on your next project.
Thanks…a great idea.
Just bought my first table saw used on Craigslist. I’ve watched so many videos on crosscut jigs but never anything about the miter gauge. This is so cool, hope my craftsman miter gauge has the 2 screw holes. That sucker is heavy, hope I don’t need to drill. Thanks for the video
I have 1 question? Could make the fence protrude further past the blade for even more stability for longer pieces? Great video. Thanks
Incredibly helpful
What brand miter guage is he using?
Ok…I’m going to try this out today. I wanna see how a "modded" miter gauge will work with angled cuts. Particularly 45° cuts.
I’ve been a little on the obsessed side with making perfect angled cuts.
Thanks for the excellent tip. After watching your video I was off to the shop to put this mod into effect… and it works great!
I just made one today…it made my cuts so much easier and gave me more confidence in using the tool. Thank you…
Great video. Big thumbs up.
oh my gosh… this video just changed my life!
капитан очевидность, это ты???
Awesome with a capital A.
I do need to do this to mine as well. My question though is how does yhis work for the angle cuts? To me it looks like you’d lose the cut line on the that you made on the wood to line up your cut when cutting square! It would be just like the old miter saw cutting bed where you’d have a thousand cut marks where you’ve cut wood over and over!!! Which defeats the purpose of cutting with either square or angles!
I’m new to woodworking and I added this to my miter gauge. Definitely made things better. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks these little reminders are always worth watching.
Awesome.. thanks !!!
Awesome. Did not realize how useful this could be. Thank you.
That’s really helpful 👍
*Just completed a big trim project on my house **MyBest.Tools** Performed very well. Also appreciate how easy it is to move, set up and store with the integrated stand. No more cutting wood on my knees.*
Great advice, well presented.
Does that mean we don’t have to build a cross cut shed anymore? I am serious about this question.
I always put two sharp finishing nails that are barely protruding out the face of the wood fence. Squeeze your workpiece into the nail points to keep the piece from sliding around as you cut.
Thank you for the info. Nice Vid.
Brilliant. I have used my brand new table a couple of times in the past week and wondered how to use the mitre gauge it came with, including why yhe gauge had holes, as well as bolts/adjusters. The instructions did not mention at all that I am to fit my own fence to it. Thank you so much for your video. This is my little project tomorrow!!
Super great tip thanks!
What if You cut on angle ex. 15, 20, 25…. ? Then saw will change your fence and you will have huge gap…
Thanks! I used this idea but I screwed and glued a tapered brace to the flat board, to prevent flexing.
Great video, thanks!
Should definitely use the auxiliary miter fence to push the cut off past the blade, not just let it sit next to the saw
I added the extension to my gauge and especially appreciate the cut in the wood fence to line up my work piece. This helps me with accuracy since I use my saw guard at all times. The table saw scares the devil out of me so I use all precautions I can. Thanks for the video.
Quick and simple yet productive, very nice. I subscribed also.
Sir, simplicity does not have to cost. Wow-wee! That’s very instrumental information. Thanx.
Great video Sir 👍
*This is my third Dewalt miter saw>>>**t.co/60aS8raCcR** quality is good, accuracy is dead on. These saws have given me excellent service and will continue to buy them as the need arises.*

So simple, explained perfectly without waffle. even suggested aprox measurement. Just bought a similar saw, not yet used it. will make this first.
Well dang! Mind blown new woodworker here!
Excelente dica…, simples e super eficiente ❤️
Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
This upgrade sounds great. Unfortunately I can’t extend the miter fence very much as I’m using a blade guard. Better than nothing though.
I think you need to take some time and go to woodprix website to learn how to make it.
Wish I would of seen this earlier, thanks now I have to add that to my collection 😃
Excellent, effective, concise, and professional presentation.
Thank you
A great post simple, easy and effective.
I still prefer to use my blade safety shield to protect my fingers whenever possible; so I just added a shorter fence instead. Better than no fence.
So simple yet I never even thought about this. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent Festool commercial! …if only Rockler sold Festool :-/
Wow pretty nice add on will do on mine.
Very simple yet so effective
Holy moly, this has changed my life, and its such a simple thing I never though of. Thank you!
Dude great idea!!!!
