Great review. Also, i wanted to say thanks for an older video the one you assembled the metabo thickness/planer. Thank you Badge
Nice one
Personaly I don’t like the Bosch, the switch is a real nightmare, it switches really haevy so you can’t switch it on or off quick enough and you need more than one finger to switch it on or off. Also it uses a lot of power and the battery drains fast…to fast. The splinterguard is useless because you can’t see where you go, for rough work it’s fine but for precision cuts it’s no use.
Fantastic review, Matt! ๐
Really great tool! It seems to work better than the usual format!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! ๐๐
Hi Mat indeed a very impressive machine , with the added bonus of being battery powered . With this in mind have you any thoughts on protecting all your batteryโs come winter time , I understand rechargeable batteries donโt like being exposed to freezing temperatures . Best wishes and kind regards. ๐๐๐๐
Matt, The days have gone when we used to get companies visit Builders Merchants with hands on try outs and discounted offers so yours (and others) recommendation vids are so helpful. My midsized Kango breaker (that I bought my wife for her birthday) * is one such…. I would not have bought it if it was not for the fact of demo session at a merchant day. It has been the best investment I have made for me (sorry her). * It shows that the age of romance is not dead. Bob (Weston super Mare)
Great review Matt.
I still have my first Bosch green jigsaw PST 54E that I bought more years ago than I care to remember, however it was a massive upgrade when I treated myself to the Bosch blue 18v 5 or 6 years ago.
I use D-handle DeWalt 18v as my daily driver but the Bosch always comes out for the more accurate cuts.
I’ve had my eye on a barrel grip for sometime but didn’t like the idea of the switch rather than a button for running the saw, but can see now that switch is necessary as keeping constant pressure on a button is going to be difficult in many of the positions you’d use the barrel grip in.
I liked the comparison with the 12v version too as it isn’t much larger which is a bonus for the applications I have in mind.

Jigsaws are a tool where the cheap ones and the quality ones have a BIG difference in how well they work.
Itโs good that Bosch support you. Thatโs what we want from suppliers, not big marketing campaigns.
Great video! Once I am ready to replace my corded Makita, this seems like the one that I need to put at the top of my list.
Hi Matt, another good toy to ‘play’ in the shed, have lots of fun, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia ๐๐๐๐
Hi Matt, what is the pendulum action used for?
Lucky Man. Enjoy
Bosch will keep sending you stuff and you know it
Gotta say I HATE jigsaws (although I do have a good 18V DeWalt one) last resort tool, most inaccurate cut of any saw in the shop – having said that, there are some times when itโs the ONLY tool that can do a particular job, so I reach for itโฆ reluctantly!! ๐ฌ
nice piece of equipment
the lighting is looking good mate.
Thanks for this Matt, you made a compelling case for this tool, I am on the Bosh 12v platform but have other legacy tools too, I was thinking of buying the 12v Jig, but this makes me think it may be worth investing in some of the 18v too !
I like Bosch professional products, they’re well made, durable, and comfortable. Things I don’t like about Bosch professional The range is smaller than Makita, L-Boxx system isn’t as good as Tanos systainer, and Bosch accessories are really expensive for what you get. I use Makita guide rails and guide rail mitre etc for my Bosch track saw.
Wow that was quick and ferly accurate i never seem to be able to follow the line that well, more practice needed but i think i may be trying to force it too much as i get a lot of discrepancy in the vertical plane (blade flex?) or blade drift?
nice tool Matt. Once again – us left hookers are overlooked sadly
