Now it costs $1111 USD. Thanks joe!
I like the video and the editing and the bench… but with all the fancy tools that you have, it’s really not $110, but a several thousand dollar investment in equipment that comes first. While you suggest that simpler tools can be used, that is not shown and the whole point of the $110 price tag is for those who don’t have the budget for something expensive. If you already have all this equipment and a giant assembly table, a $110 workbench is really not an attractive hook.
In 2022 $$$’s this bench will cost about $153,366.98 for the 11, 10×2’s
Lol 110 six years ago I’d probably cry trying to price that with today’s lumber prices
just subscribed
Today that would be $650 lumber
Jay, do you know how much it would cost today with lumber prices? I am doing a Cosman style, got 1/2 sheets of 3/4 plywood for 10 each. Maybe cheap as I can build, especially with my crude woodworking skills. I’m mechanical, learning wood and building guitars.
How to make a gorgeous bench for only $110… and $5000 in equipment.
This table is now worth 300$ in lumber. Cheaper to buy a already built table at the moment
Good job. That’s one thick topper.
Peace
Awesome video. thanks for posting. If you don’t mind me asking… now a few years after you’ve built this, have you had any issues with the bench top only making contact with the legs? In addition to the leg mortise and tenons, most of the other designs I see out there show the top resting on upper short leg stretchers as well . I’d like to design my workbench without those so I avoid interference for whatever vise I decide to install in the future. Thanks for your help! I am pretty new to this and looking to learn 🙂
2022 this is a 700$ work bench
YouTube is up to no good again. I just noticed they unsubscribed me from your channel.
In 2022 the cost is now $1500. 😢
Wow, awesome bench. Love your style, standing in the shop narrating while the other you does the work. Great stuff
You cant build it now for 110.00 you would be lucky if you could by the materials for less than 300
Fellow Michigan guy. I fell the pain of that lions banner in the background lol.
Six years later and that $110 work bench would cost $310 to build.
Freaking awesome build Jay !,keep up the great content.
Perfect size for me as a starter, definitely will build my bench with your plans Thank you Sir
If you still read comments SIX YEARS after production of this video, I’d love to know how much the material costs today.
New woodworker question – why did you run the bench top boards through the planer on a angle? In the video you kept reusing a short board to force the bench top board on an angle. I just don’t know why.
How to make a workbench on a budget
Step 1: stuff your cheap lumber into a planer
At least you’re not like some of the goobers out there leaving the expensive part to the end. Thanks for trying, but no thanks.
This video didnt age well. Even with syp, I dunno if I could make it for $110.
HA !…That depends on what’s in the glass!
$110.00! For 2×10’s!! Lol… aww before covid we didn’t know how good we had it!
Homeboy. For real. Telling us how to build a workbench for $150 using >$8k worth of power tools?
good
Excellent video for an inexpensive and good workbench. Compliments!
Those jeans, *chefs kiss*
Here’s how to build a workbench for $110:
1) buy $500 planner
2) buy $100 in clamps
3) buy $110 in wood
4) buy $400 table saw
Sorry but now this bench would cost at least $250
Thanks for this video. Given how expensive lumber has become in the last six years I wonder how much this workbench would cost today. 😄
Cheers.
$110 6 years ago is $1100 in 2022
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🔔👈
Excellent
That’s one heck of a beautiful workbench, but with today’s lumber prices, it’ll cost close to $500 to build it, minimum.
All very well and good if you already have a fully equipped workshop. I suspect most people interested in build a workbench don’t.
Simply excellent content and editing. Great work Mr. Bates!
Would it have not been cheaper to use 4×4’s?
6 yrs ago $110 now a days $1000
Any idea what that lumber would cost now?
Is the video game sound at the very end from Contra?
If there were 2 of me I might could actually get some work done.🤣
You see a woodworking table, I see a great place to duck and cover in an earthquake. (California)
2022 It now costs $1100
superman gibisin 👋👋👋
I must say Jay, I’m 62 years old who took woodshop in High School (no mask required). I loved working with wood and so now I am surrendering half of my two car garage a creating a woodshop. My Harley is very upset with me. I’m researching the best lay out for my shop, along with tools and equipment I must purchase to begin a functional shop. I purchased your plans for a table and just watching your video (well done) and buying the plans, I am excited to get started. Thanks for producing a video that not only inspired me, but instructed me to end my days on this earth in my garage!! Love your help and I appreciate any ideas for laying out a wood shop one car size, and acquiring tools for a functional shop. Blessings!!

Update price to 2021 and it’s $300.
