Building a Workbench With Storage in Less Than One Hour – Only One Plywood Sheet and Some 2×4's

A workbench does not always need fancy joinery and vices.
❤️️ 1 Hour Workbench Plans: https://dieter.me/product/1-hour-workbench-plans/

This simple workbench is quick to build (less than one hour) and it can be used for lots of different woodworking tasks.

It’s built using only one plywood sheet and some 2×4 lumber. For extra strength you can add glue if you want.

Measurements:

The legs are 88 cm
The top is 200×70 cm
The shelf is 200×50 cm

Love the music selection. Usually prefer no. USC, sound of tools or voice over. Well done. Like the simple bench that 99%of us need. No Japanese joinery 20 yrs. in the making, etc… Thank you!

Could always put the top on last in case you wanted a little overhang for clamping (making it a bit bigger)

Congratulations !!! The perfect workbench !!! I’m from brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

Easy if you already have a lot of powertools and a workbench.

I don’t understand what/how he’s making the legs. After your first cut at 34 5/8 inches what is the next steps.

    Great job

What a great design. I need to build a workbench so I can start building out my shop. This one is perfect and I’ll probably keep it forever. And for all you jamming about the clamps, did you notice how he used his leg once? Perfect!

2X4 ARE REALLY SQUARE. I just bought some and they edges are realy rounded.

The song makes this process seem quite peaceful. Meanwhile in my garage… "$&@%&$@&%$!!!"

Is there a standard finished height for a work bench?

  14. Omar R. on May 14, 2022 at 7:38 pm

What would you add/change if you install casters to the bottom of the legs?

  15. Chris Goodayle on May 14, 2022 at 7:39 pm

Perfect bench for my shop-thanks for posting.

    wrote lyrics for the music:
    oh dieter, dieter, dieter schneider
    cutting wood in despite her
    sawing, nailing, measuring
    his new work bench
    oh dieter making videos
    eith the guitar music
    so calming in high definition

UNBELIEVABLE – but you have the down saw machine that would make the job faster. I would hire you to make me a bench within an hour for the right price. Thanks for sharing.

  19. Craig Strickler on May 14, 2022 at 7:41 pm

Love the bench. I will be building one soon. Also, what music is playing?

The 2×4’s you have in your country look like true 2"x4", ours here in the US are an anemic 1.5"x3.5"

  23. Alvaro FloresTheflores4 on May 14, 2022 at 7:45 pm

    Awesome ! Buddy

  24. Cole Moyer on May 14, 2022 at 7:45 pm

What kind of wood are the 2x4s? The 2x4s at local Home Depot are so heavy. Yours seem lighter…

  25. Penelope on May 14, 2022 at 7:46 pm

LOL, the way you used your leg as a vice. That’s something I would do.

  26. Gman from Texas on May 14, 2022 at 7:48 pm

That came out beautiful. Thanks for the video, I’m making one this week

  27. TimeMaster86 on May 14, 2022 at 7:49 pm

This is such a great video! But also somehow gives off incredibly sad vibes 🤣

What happen if you are beginner and don’t have the equipment you have?

  29. Detail8585 on May 14, 2022 at 7:50 pm

Built a slightly larger version of this table and couldn’t be happier with it. Thanks for sharing!

Just made it. Put wheels on it. Love it, its perfect. Thanks for sharing. I changed the dimensions to suit my space better. They were actually pretty close to yours. I think the total height with 2 1/2 inch casters was 34. Length and width of mine came out to 70" x 28". Used seven 2x4x8s and a sheet of 4×8 sanded plywood that cost $65 freaking dollars. Luckily I got one of the last few remaining out of that pallet because the next pallet behind that one the sheets were $80. That difference was how much it was going up! Anyways, with the casters and screws I think mine came out to somewhere around $165 in materials.
Things I like about your design and video: simple, solid, easy. I learned some things watching you that I would never have thought of. I like how the shelf is raised off the floor. Most other designs I saw on YT had the shelf all the way at the bottom. Well, have fun cleaning under that or trying to get a screw or something you dropped down there! The extra effort to raise it makes a huge difference. Plus, if I wanted to, now I can put things underneath the thing too.

  36. Frank Messina on May 14, 2022 at 7:59 pm

For the avg person that is not an experience wood worker this video is horrible and not helpful at all! No explaining what he is doing, not telling you what wood to get not telling you the tools you need ect. Cool
Vid but no helpful to the newbie

  37. lapalomas on May 14, 2022 at 7:59 pm

The lumber you used is excellent quality

    Nice !

  41. David Jerrett on May 14, 2022 at 8:01 pm

Ive never seen such square 2x4s before.

  42. jay thayer on May 14, 2022 at 8:02 pm

Thanks for the video. Your 2 X 4’s look much beefier (bigger) to the ones I have available. Much thicker and wider?

  43. Ma Si on May 14, 2022 at 8:03 pm

After watching several videos on how to build a workbench, I realize this is the best one I’ve seen and will be rebuilding this, albeit a size smaller due to the lack of space. Direct clear line, stable and sustainable. Compliments on your work, you’ve got it.
PS: Wonderful music in the background, I love it. Many greetings from Germany.

  44. Jaryd Holmes on May 14, 2022 at 8:05 pm

I dont comment often on videos but I felt I HAD to for this one. I searched and searched for a reasonable design for a work bench for a beginner and found this. Was fun to make and very sturdy. Thank you sir for making a beginner feel confident.

Really would like to get into wood building. Tables shelves etc. I have a miter saw and a sander. Also drills. What should I get as well
