BUILT-IN IKEA PAX WARDROBE HACK π‘π
BUILT-IN IKEA PAX WARDROBE HACK π‘π
This week we complete a built-in IKEA pax wardrobe hack, making the wardrobes look seamless in the (almost finished!) dressing room. The whole project was completed for under Β£300 and we bought all of the wardrobes second hand – it was honestly so much easier than we expected and I’d highly recommend giving it a go! Let me know if you take something like this on and how you found the project.

You should add led lighting on the top gap to make it a bit more luxurious
Great video!! Just what I needed. Subscribed as well. Can you tell me if I can do this on top of carpet or would I need to pull my carpet up in that area?
Did you secure the wardrobes to the base? Putting the PAX on a base in our mudroom and wondered if that’s a necessary step. I will secure it to the wall but not sure if it needs securing to the base as well. Thanks!
Beautiful , what a great job you guys did here and I love the color great content (have subscribed ) Thank You
Did you extend the base wall to wall? Is the base just under the Pax or under the floating shelves too?
They came out gorgeous! I love that you all added the shelves on the side to utilize all of your space.
You guys did an awesome job!!
Doesn’t look fitted with that huge gap
Nice job guys, well done thinking outside the box, I’m interested to see your renovations, nice presentation.

you guys did such an amazing job and the wardrobes came out splendidly!! i love the colour you chose and how well it works with the black accents around the room. i’ve made a note of it so i can use it in my new place π€π€
Wee tip for any one doing the base If you level them in and add packers where needed this will help keep your units square and level so when you install your doors they will line up perfectly π
Wow, I’m subscribing xx
Beautiful job!! Love your ideas
I am starting now to build in my pax wardrobe :)) so it was very very helpful. Thank you!
Firstly, Iβd be adding a tiny handle to that bottom bit where the floating shelves are. Would make for an awesome hidey hole! Canβt think of what Iβd put in there but itβs still fun to know thereβs a secret spot for treasures. Secondly, if you leave the top as is you can store things above the wardrobe. Out of season coats or bedding. Nothing too heavy, but basic things will be fine. I recently bought some attractive (and inexpensive) fabric covered under bed boxes on Amazon and theyβd fit perfect up there.
Nice video! Just got some pax wardrobe with sliding doors, debating to put on frame now haha! Yours looks Great! Also good idea with the shelves on left we have same space so thanks for the ideas!
Super job.
Hi, nicely done! I have to put some wardrobes together and I was wondering how much space did you leave between the wardrobe and the window wall. We are going to have drawers so we need the door to open at least 90 degrees but I am worried I am not going to be able to do so if I put the wardrobe against the side wall.
Really enjoyed watching this. Well done and a great result. Youβve inspired me!
Great video, we are half way through doing exactly the same, we’ve bought all of our wardrobes off of FB market place, we’ve even cut one 50cm wardrobe down to fit under our slopping ceiling, (cutting a triangle off the top of a door to make fit,) our doors are a mix of oak veneer and gloss/plastic coated, so not matching in colour or finish, all are flat i.e not shaker style like yours, so my plan now is to glue and brad nail some 2-3" 6mm MDF strips to each door to make them shaker style, and paint them (if i can remove the plastic coating that is, tested them with rustoluem cupboard paint and it just rubs off, any ideas?) otherwise i’m thinking about glueing some wallpaper in between each shaker gap to cover the bright white gloss. We also have 1 mirror door, i’m hoping to make this shaker style too, by just glueing the strips to make them all look cohesive. Best laid plans and all that!
Have you seen clear glass inserts for the doors vs solid wood panels?
worth watching for two good ideas.
I think I don’t like them…Great video Really enjoyed watching Thank you..
Great video the wardrobes look great!
Awesome video, but no drawers? Where does Tom put his socks and undies? π€·πΎββοΈ
Great video, thank you. Can I ask what is your finished ceiling height in the loft conversion?
The shelves behind the door are ideal for hand bags, I love the result. x
Did you secure it to the wall?
Absolutely beautiful
Hi!! Did you drill the base into the sub floor directly? I am trying to think of the best way to manage this if there is already flooring. Thanks!
I got a ‘discounted’ quote for 3 fitted wardrobes that was over Β£12k and then I thought of doing this… turns out I wasnt the first :’) There quite a few of these Pax Hacks out there, but this has been the most helpful. Great job! Will definitely check your other vids. Thanks!
Hi! Iβm super keen to paint my PAX wardrobe! What kind of paint did you use? Water based / oil based? I have the zinnser product but Iβm unsure if I can use the water based paints we already have!
Looks great,!!!
Is this too heavy for 2nd floor bedroom? Thanks
Hi, great job! I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind. Did you screw the wardrobes to the base? Did you also screw back of the wardrobes to the wall? I’m thinking of doing this and was unsure if this needs to be done to keep them sturdy and not wobbly. Thanks
Love the long handles!
Could you list what we need to buy?
Great job, such an easy video to follow. Also, could you tell me what carpet you have? Ive just moved and i like it! thanks
Well done you twoβ¦ wardrobes looking great as does raising the floor idea! You make it look so easy, so Iβll just have to have a go at this now when I finally get my PAX wardrobes π
Youβre the first person Iβve watched that explains everything. Thank you!!!!! This is really helpful!!! β€
Love this and adding the shelves really makes it!
Definitely needs top gap enclosed to finish the look
Cracking video and lovely result
for the base: did you plane the timber board so that all of the edges were flat or did you use it exactly as it comes from a hardware store? i don’t have a table saw so I don’t really have a way to plane it and I’m wondering if it’ll be off balance if I don’t plane it.
Adore this colour, and well done!
Fantastic vid! Random question, why did you use valspar colour match? Was it purely for price? Or is theres better for painting ikea pax wardrobes? Im looking for advice thanks

Looks great and glad you were able to use some scrap pieces too. β£
it looks like it cost more to buy sub materials than the Ikea Wardorbe itself
