Cabinet Making for Beginners | First Attempt

Cabinet Making for Beginners | First Attempt

Today’s video is all about cabinet making for beginners. Whether this is your first attempt, or if you’ve tried making a cabinet before, this lesson should give you a few more tips to improve your next build. For this project I intentionally used only 3 powertools and the cheapest Kreg Jig setup at $36. If you have questions or need help, just say the word!

Which is structurally better – an integrated toe kick cut out of the side panel, or one where it’s added onto to main box?

I just found your channel and it is really top notch. Your videos are well thought out and well explained. I hate videos that just play music without any explanations. I’ll make sure and mention you in some of the woodworking groups I am in.

Building a cabinet for begginers, using few basic powertools. Then we see a table saw. Waste of time.

that is not for beginners. for beginners, show how to use circular saw and drill driver tools to make. Beginners dont invest in table saw.

  25. Pruz Zilla on February 27, 2023 at 6:30 am

So, just glue it all together? How is this a beginners guide if you don’t show the assembly of it? This is like Martha Stewart–always leave out the most important ingredient.

Is there a video on your office credenza build (at 0:51)? I’m particularly interested in the file drawer aspect of the project.

Enjoy the channel a lot. I like the quick pace.

  35. number 6 on February 27, 2023 at 6:45 am

I appreciate succinct and to the point instruction, but this was way too fast and not enough detail. Maybe you listed what you used in "Show More" and I missed it.

What tooth blade would I need to cut my boards for a smooth cut? 80 tooth Diablo?

  38. Dubs Barry on February 27, 2023 at 6:48 am

    Dear YouTube,
This is how you edit a "how to" video

  39. T. N. on February 27, 2023 at 6:51 am

Could you explain why you recommend putting the cabinet top and bottom between the sides? Is it so that you won’t see the end grain if the side of the cabinet is exposed? I’m building cabinets that won’t be exposed on the ends and was thinking that if the sides are between the top and bottom it would provide more support for heavy objects on the shelves as the sides would be supporting the shelves, rather than putting all the load on the screws. I’m using a face frame over the carcass and adding bypass doors that run in tracks rather than doors that hang on hinges. Thanks for your help!

I am planing to do the cabinets for my kitchen, my husband says it’s not a good idea haha but I am crazy watching tutorials and yours are awesome! I will try! Thank you for your amazing videos!

  41. Sk Lee on February 27, 2023 at 6:53 am

Thanks for sharing. What is the reason you left half inch on the back before? In this case, a shim or block Is needed to attach to the wall to make up the difference.

  42. Crushing Vanessa3 on February 27, 2023 at 6:56 am

This is great but what if the workshop here is bigger than my house and Ikea doesn’t have the cabinet I need?
