DIY 2×4 Workbench for Under $100 | Modern Builds | Woodworking

Today on Modern builds, I’m making a woodworking workbench completely out of 2×4’s! Materials (wood) for this project came in at just under $100, and the beauty of this project is that it doesn’t take a shop full of tools. A circular saw, planer, and a table saw (optionally) is all you need! If you plan on building this project yourself, there will be plans on my website, linked below.

LOL 7:45 puts on a mask to not breath in saw dust, then shakes his sweatshirt without his mask!

  3. Emel on January 17, 2022 at 10:51 pm

Wood prices went up and this bench is now $300

  4. Alan King on January 17, 2022 at 10:51 pm

The sketchup file shows the stretchers and apron on the inside portion of the legs while your build has them on the outside of the legs. Is one way better?

    $100 workbench…. made with $5000 of tools

  13. Timothy Jesse on January 17, 2022 at 10:59 pm

    Only $1000…

  14. Mark Sullivan on January 17, 2022 at 11:03 pm

This may have been covered but, man, where is any dust collection? Even a shop vac duct-taped to each tool’s port. Mask is absolutely not enough. Dust all throughout your workspace. Good vid tho.

As soon as I sell a kidney I’ll be able to afford the last 2 boards I need to build this.

  16. TiOZÃO on January 17, 2022 at 11:05 pm

Just about EVERYTHING in this bench is *WRONG!* Total garbage!

  17. Ashraf Milad on January 17, 2022 at 11:05 pm

Hi, would you please send me a PDF design, thanks.

  18. D Rut on January 17, 2022 at 11:05 pm

You presented a good build for a beginner as well as an experienced one. Suggest offsetting the legs to allow securing a vice beneath the top.

  19. Andre St-Jacques on January 17, 2022 at 11:05 pm

that 100$ table is like 600 buck in 2021 dollars

  20. Hugh M on January 17, 2022 at 11:05 pm

Video was in my feed. Had watched it previously. Pretty sure that bench is currently now over $1000 😭

  25. Michael Gamble on January 17, 2022 at 11:11 pm

Hi Mike, what ear muffs do you use?

  26. Mr Libowski on January 17, 2022 at 11:12 pm

In 2021 this now requires you refi your house.

  27. ltandrepants on January 17, 2022 at 11:12 pm

not any more. lumber prices have quadrupled.

  28. Chris Denison on January 17, 2022 at 11:14 pm

  29. Jason Arthurs on January 17, 2022 at 11:15 pm

2018, welcome to 2021 lumber prices….suddenly, this becomes the "Gucci" of workbenches.

  30. c r on January 17, 2022 at 11:16 pm

Fast forward to 2021 and you’ve got $1000 of lumber

  31. Kingdom Heir on January 17, 2022 at 11:16 pm

Today this project will cost about $10,000.

  32. Jim Bradshaw on January 17, 2022 at 11:18 pm

This is great if you happen to have a garage full of fancy tools.

  33. Simon Goode on January 17, 2022 at 11:18 pm

how many people need to build a workbench for under $100 but also have a planer?

  34. Romaine Athey on January 17, 2022 at 11:20 pm

I think you can make it yourself, just loook and learn from Stodoys .

  35. Darren Kall on January 17, 2022 at 11:20 pm

You should’ve made this table in the floor for authenticity. You’re using a workbench that’s kind of cheating

  36. David on January 17, 2022 at 11:22 pm

    Now costs about $10,000

  37. macbirt56 on January 17, 2022 at 11:22 pm

I’m not easily impressed by other people’s woodworking, probably because I started doing it when I was 12 in the 1960’s. lol.
But anyway, VERY NICE WORK. And in the words of another channel I follow, (Dan Hurd’s Prospecting), "You’ve earned my like and subscribe". One more thing, I hope your finger is doing better.😁

  38. J T on January 17, 2022 at 11:24 pm

$300 in 2021 Lets go Brandon

  39. Awesome Card Breaks on January 17, 2022 at 11:27 pm

$100 three years ago. Now it’s $10k to buy all the lumber for this

  40. Jacob Moye on January 17, 2022 at 11:27 pm

You might want to change the title to under $1000

  41. Karl Jackley on January 17, 2022 at 11:31 pm

Boy I just don’t know about this. If I had thousands of dollars worth of power equipment. I bet I could come up with something a little more elaborate than a $100 table build. Is it me? Or does this guy look like he just got out of high school. Sorry dude, I just can’t take you seriously.

  42. Christian Gonzalez on January 17, 2022 at 11:32 pm

About $400 now with lumber prices

  43. Kinu Grove on January 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm

Another idea for the table top is a used solid core door. You can find them cheap at the Re Store. You can see other examples of this on You Tube.

  44. Roger Douglass on January 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm
