Nothing to do w a jointer in my world

  3. Violetspider on March 15, 2023 at 6:56 am

So a planer only does one side and a joiner does both? But they the same price. Buy the planer ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿคท

  4. Blzt on March 15, 2023 at 6:56 am

Who owns a planer and not a jointer though

  5. SaltwaterRook on March 15, 2023 at 7:02 am

If you think this is hard, you shouldn’t own a power tool.

  6. Justin Coppa on March 15, 2023 at 7:02 am

This video shouldnโ€™t be called, โ€œDonโ€™t waste your money on a jointer.โ€ Anyone who has a jointer knows that, just because there are other techniques that can duplicate some of the jointers function, doesnโ€™t mean a jointer isnโ€™t vital. Do you really want to get out the hot glue and shims every time you need to flatten a board or straighten an edge? Maybe it should be called, โ€œIf you are fine with wood that isnโ€™t flat or straight, donโ€™t waste your money on a jointerโ€. BTW, you can flatten a board just fast with a good sharp hand plane as using that technique. I, for one, need my jointer almost every time I work with a piece of wood.

  7. Bing Lucy on March 15, 2023 at 7:02 am

    Why not make into
SHimes time plus power and mess not worth his time
Why not use the the flat board for job

  9. Chad Z on March 15, 2023 at 7:05 am

  10. Landril on March 15, 2023 at 7:07 am

    ah yes click bait.

  11. The Bearded One Outdoors on March 15, 2023 at 7:08 am

Thatโ€™s what a planer does is flatten boards. A jointer is for the edges of the board so not sure how this helps if the edges are messed up.

I just use my table saw when needed.

  12. Viewtiful Josh on March 15, 2023 at 7:13 am

All you need is a $300+ tool!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Easy!

  13. Hunt Too on March 15, 2023 at 7:14 am

If you refuse to buy a jointer and just forever want to stick to this, you have no fckng business to do woodworking!!! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

    Lol

  15. Brett Dietrich on March 15, 2023 at 7:14 am

If you’re an actual carpenter, you have a jointer.

  16. Clueless Sam on March 15, 2023 at 7:14 am

Itโ€™s said donโ€™t waste money on a jointer wtf

  17. Mike Penna on March 15, 2023 at 7:17 am

If you don’t have a jointer….just buy a planner! Simple

  19. jeff pizzi on March 15, 2023 at 7:18 am

Why would I want to waste my time doing this when I could be done on my jointer in just a few moments?

  20. BuRn u on March 15, 2023 at 7:19 am

LOL no, the mdf, hot glue, chisel? Too much screwing around, invest in a jointer, 5 mins youโ€™re done! Itโ€™s worth it in the long run

  21. Renee Hess on March 15, 2023 at 7:21 am

Buuuuuuut what if you want to do the sides? Lol

  22. Zewb on March 15, 2023 at 7:23 am

Pro tip, isopropyl alcohol is great at making hot glue release. Perfect for removing it from temporary fixes.

  23. Lectric Dolphin on March 15, 2023 at 7:24 am

Did he powercarve an already flat board to make it look warped???

  24. Jeff Nolan on March 15, 2023 at 7:24 am

I get it done with hand tools, not out of principle, but out of economic necessity. I’d love to have a dedicated shop with thousands of dollars worth of Gucci tools.

  27. Richard Solomon on March 15, 2023 at 7:28 am

Nope. There’s a right way a wrong way and a cheap assed fuckery way.

  28. Mike Znel on March 15, 2023 at 7:29 am

Jointer is cheaper than a planer and you can do the edges.

  29. Mike Oxlong on March 15, 2023 at 7:30 am

What a joke! This guy is not a genius. A modern man yes but that doesn’t say much

  30. Scott Mackenzie on March 15, 2023 at 7:30 am

BS the board you showed at the start is not in the same condition when you glued it to the flat white board. Be legit or dont make a video at all. LAME

  31. taylor b on March 15, 2023 at 7:33 am

    you the man now, dog!

  32. A BC on March 15, 2023 at 7:36 am

    Just need a planer now lol ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿป๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

  33. Bill Tracy on March 15, 2023 at 7:36 am

Uh, thatโ€™s not what you use a jointer for. Theyโ€™re mainly for making the edges perfectly straight for butting boards together to make table tops and such. I have both, and my jointer was half the cost of my planer, lol

  34. Robert Shank on March 15, 2023 at 7:37 am

I am a terrible woodworker so I have lots of respect for good carpenters, furniture makers etc. My question is this. Why not just buy the wood you need instead of trying to save half of a piece of scrap?

  35. Nick Durkiewicz on March 15, 2023 at 7:39 am

How did this square up the sides like an actual jointer does? All he did was plane it??

  36. Ryan Santos on March 15, 2023 at 7:39 am

There are always workarounds but if you need lots of project lumber having a jointer and planer is totally worth it for the time it saves.

  37. Derek Long on March 15, 2023 at 7:42 am

Or… spend 20 minutes with a hand plane. It is amazing how people will talk about resorting to all kinds of gimmicks instead of just reaching for a $200 hand plane.

  38. Adam Spooner on March 15, 2023 at 7:42 am

This was how to plane, but no joiner replacement for 90… Next steps are. Tack a flat board to unjoined (a word?) side with brads, and run opposite side through table saw. Take off flat board and run that side through table saw. Parallel and square to planed side.

I just use a hand plane. No planer no joiner.

  39. NASA official on March 15, 2023 at 7:44 am

No but for real all I have is a drill and a jigsaw how can I do this ๐Ÿค”

  40. Zach Burkhart on March 15, 2023 at 7:44 am

Except, you don’t necessarily have a square board.

  41. BYRD TOOL on March 15, 2023 at 7:44 am

Really like that upgraded by SHELIX sticker!!

  42. noah crank on March 15, 2023 at 7:45 am

What if the board had a bow, and you also don’t have a planner

  43. Matt Phipps on March 15, 2023 at 7:46 am

This is hilarious. Did you see the gap to the level at the end. Love this guy

  44. Tummytub on March 15, 2023 at 7:47 am

    If, the board is flat…

  45. Joe Palumbo221 on March 15, 2023 at 7:48 am

    Proven method

  46. Steven Rogers on March 15, 2023 at 7:50 am

Seems like itโ€™s be cheaper to buy a new board.

  47. JB in the Garden on March 15, 2023 at 7:51 am

These days sell the unique piece of wood and make more money than if you mill it down.
