EPIC Table Saw Build – The Lift and Tilt

Project build article:

Building The EPIC Table Saw

This is the first in a series of videos that covers the building of a professional quality table saw from the ground up. This one focuses on the heart of the project – the lift and tilt mechanism.

Really nice work with lots of patience and attention to detail.  Thank you.  Something I don’t understand……Is the press fit of the bearings into the wooden holes enough to keep the bearings from spinning over time?

Nice job. I’m going to build one when I win the lottery. Baltic Birch is expensive here, if you can even get it.

    Amazing!
I’ve seen other table saws made of wood, but the ones I’ve seen were lacking a decent trunion.

  25. Shaun Downs on September 9, 2023 at 8:11 pm

  27. Dainis Janums on September 9, 2023 at 8:16 pm

Jeeee you have Latvian birch plywood, im from Latvia too.

  28. Bluuplanet on September 9, 2023 at 8:16 pm

John, check out MDO and HDO plywood for projects like this. (And don’t let the "MD*" trick you into thinking of glued-together saw dust.)
These designations are high strength plywood made usually of Fir. They have a smooth mat "kraft" finish. MDO is often used by sign painters. HDO is more heavy duty with a waterproof glue often used to make silky smooth concrete forms.

  29. Charles Smith on September 9, 2023 at 8:16 pm

Did you ever swap out the screwdriver handles for wheels to speed up the the saw adjustments? That wore my wrist out just watching you turn those handles.

  33. мопс on September 9, 2023 at 8:20 pm

Идея хорошая и на вид крепко всё выглядит правда нихрена не понятно. И думаю стоит фанеру обработать влагостойким составом чуть разбухнет и капец поведёт всю конструкцию.

  45. shane stevens on September 9, 2023 at 8:27 pm

I must’ve missed it but where is the centre of tilt pivot or fulcrum located. Is it aligned with the centre axis of the sawblade width and the closest point to the underside of the table that movement will allow. I am supposing that the blade at the table slot must not move in an arc when blade angle is changed.
