Essential Woodworking Hand Tools | Paul Sellers

Essential Woodworking Hand Tools | Paul Sellers

We first published this book in 2016 and just a couple of months ago we sold out of our first batch of 10,000 copies. So, we had it reprinted and it is now back in stock. For now, the only place this book is available is our website (https://rokesmith.com/shop). If you haven’t already got a copy we encourage you to buy it, it is great!

With Paul Sellers’ book he wants to pass on not just his knowledge of hand tools but his enjoyment of them too. Hand tool woodworking provides a direct connection to wood as a raw resource for creating. It allows you to create, in a small amount of space, lasting items of use and beauty. None of this is possible, however, without the tools themselves. This book is intended as an important link that will help you to make good choices in purchasing, sharpening, and beginning to use the tools that you need to build things from wood.

  8. Pawel M on January 4, 2023 at 1:50 am

I love the wood for long time, making my first steps in working it though. I bought my copy as a means of saying ‘thank you’ for the knowledge I acquired following Paul on youtube and on his websites. I’ve gone through the book several times, learning something every time. Now I wait for continuation, where I hope Paul would go ‘beyond essentials’. I highly recommend the book for anyone interested in working wood with hand tools.

Thank you Paul and team Sellers

i think the best hand tool is under your hat when it is raining.
when properly leveraged, it helps complete most jobs.

Got mine delivered today. It was dispatched few h after I ordered it so the service was blazingly fast as well. So far the book seems excellent and combined with the other material supplied by the whole team behind this Youtube channel, it will be a great help for all of us. Perhaps in the future we could get a digital access to the DVD contents instead of hardcopies (newer laptops don’t have DVD drives anymore 🙁 ).

  31. Jeremy on January 4, 2023 at 2:19 am

Just FYI, I tried making a poor man’s router plane out of 1” maple and end up bending and snapping my 1/4” chisel because the hole size wasn’t quite big enough and the wood was too hard lol
