I don’t know where you got that this was an upgrade or new version of the rage 5s cause it’s not.

Just set mine up, well happy with it. Everything wrong in this video isn’t present on mine , just spent a little while setting up everything and it’s great. Just take your time and you’ll get there. At the end of the day its not a Dewalt and never will be. Was awful to assemble you need an engineering degree.

I had the same problem with the back rail falling off and the numbers on the ruler not lining up. I called Evolution customer support who were really helpful. It turns out that there is a step in assembly which is in the instructions but not in the video. I had therefore missed it out. I also happened to mention that the fence was not tight enough for my liking and it turns out that there is a little adjustment bolt for tightening the fence. I’m really pleased with the saw after these niggles were sorted. I’d like to hear what else you have done to yours.

Hi great vid.. I have the Rage5-s and it needs to go back for repair or i can exchange it as i got it from Screwfix for the Evo 255pts.. Now i know you have had both these saw tables and you say that the Evo rage5-s is the better of the two, my problem is that I’m been offered the 255pts as a replacement and I’m wondering if i take the lefthand extension of my table will it go onto the 255pts as i really need this feature. would you be abled to look underneath your table and see if the fitment for the tubes is still there under the table? . ps looing forward to your follow up vid

Thanks for the review, I think I will give this saw a miss, can’t be doing with all the little snags.

I’m just trying to make my mind up between this and the rage 5s.

Hi Epoxy, to help you on a couple of bits as I have one and am working my way through the issues. They are definitely not an upgrade, these are a bespoke model made for screwfix I am told by customer services, this is so they can sell it cheaper, so you loose one or two features like the left extension and the flappy safety off switch, are two that I have noticed. Your blade is over extended passed the 0 degrees that’s why there is a gap at the bottom. you can adjust the stop just behind the locking lever but I have found that after several attempts to reset it, as soon as you change the angle and put it back, the stop angle has changed. But to be fair they are simple to adjust and lock accurately so I just reset with a square each time. As someone else has said, some gaffer tape on the bottom of the mitre gauge slide takes out a lot of the slop. I also loosened the the 2 black runners underneath the slide and there is some slight adjustment there to get rid of a lot of the slack, but I think I’ll make a cross cut sled with a single runner on the right of the blade. Not a fantastic piece of kit but a definite step up from the Titan I took back

Just to add another complaint to this saw my one after taking so long to fit legs did not even start back to Screwfix

  9. Matthew Logan on March 8, 2023 at 7:23 am

Hey thanks for the video I have the same problem with the fence and was wondering how you fixed it

  10. Monkey Shed on March 8, 2023 at 7:24 am

Thanks for the review, I see this is about £100 cheaper than the 5S, but it looks very similar to the 5S, without the LH extension and dust hose, but would you say the faults you have described are common to the 5S?

  12. Keith Howard on March 8, 2023 at 7:35 am

Thanks for doing this. Yours is the only one I’ve seen and I’m looking to buy one. Would you be willing to say how you overcame the problems you had? I’d be very interested to know. Many thanks.

  13. Snookerloopy on March 8, 2023 at 7:35 am

It’s not an upgrade for the 5s. It was made cheaper for the marketplace and mainly Screwfix. That’s why it’s nearly £100 cheaper than the 5S

  14. 1984tidzy on March 8, 2023 at 7:39 am

Is the 5s newr than this? Cheers

  15. Dave Thompson on March 8, 2023 at 7:44 am

Excellent video! Have you stuck with the evolution 255pts?

  16. simon barker on March 8, 2023 at 7:47 am

I bought this saw in September 2020 and it was shockingly bad. Fence out by 11mm back to front, mitre carriage rattles in the slot and the mitre fence also rattles in the slot in the carriage. This makes accurate cuts impossible. The blade would not bevel over to 45° and the saw itself swings loose in when the locking lever released. I’ve have returned the saw receiving a replacement 11 days later this one is even worse. Currently (13/1/20) fighting with evolution customer services for a full refund, they are being difficult to say the least. Overall a terrible experience, DO NOT BUY THIS SAW!!

Hi there.I need a table saw for cutting thin strips of wood to create trellises. You know what you’re talking about people so what do you recommend.By the way I am in England!

Hi, good video warts and all!
Stuck between this model based on cost to 5 s which is down to 299 for Xmas 21
Both do virtually the job and I’m unsure if I’d be better off with a circular or track saw system to achieve my build. Nevertheless it’s important to get a real life review. You achieved that. Also tip, the mitre slid just needs a strip of masking tap to eliminate the mil movement. It should settle it for you or casual DIY channel has a alternative slide self build option to help if you need it. Merry 2021 Xmas, be safe

I have one and use it only for ripping which it is good for.At that price I never expected it to be good for cross cutting.I use a mitre saw or my tracksaw for that.

  20. richie stack on March 8, 2023 at 7:50 am

On where you say you can’t get the full range of cut, once you are getting at lest 2ft of rip range it is right, sheets are 8×4 to be fair.

  21. Steve Smith on March 8, 2023 at 7:56 am

Thank you, I was thinking of buying one of these as it is about 150 cheaper than the rage5s although that has hose and the extra left expansion but seems to suffer many of the issues you describe here, with the notable issue of the plate at the saw being soft and problems with smaller pieces, i think for my purpose i can live with those issues so i think i will just buy one, thanks again for the review

Buying a Dacia and the complaining because it’s not a mercedes….

  23. peter sudell on March 8, 2023 at 8:01 am

HI good review but i think you guys are expecting too much for a £250 saw . the miter gauge up and down movement dosent really matter its movement on the angle that will, and the 90deg blade angle will be adjusted by a stop. I got this saw and was under the impression it was a cheper version of the rage 5 not an up grade hense no out table on left and no dust extraction hose to guard .
I think its reely good value . thanks for review .

  24. Rich Jones on March 8, 2023 at 8:03 am

First video I have seen on this saw. Bought mine to replace a very well used & worn out 25 year old Clark / Machine Mart bench saw. Which was second hand when I bought it. So any niggles & issues I have with this machine are small time given what I was using before. But a nice video & I look forward to your updates.

  25. Dprtun on March 8, 2023 at 8:07 am

Great vid. I’ve just bought one as a starter, how did you overcome the drop on insert plate?

  26. Tomas Daubaras on March 8, 2023 at 8:08 am

Thanks for your review. I just bought one myself will assembly it on weekend and see how it goes. Or should i return it and go for rage 5s. Thanks

  27. Cliff Walker on March 8, 2023 at 8:09 am

Regarding to the Miter Gauge I got some Gorilla Tape and put it on the bottom of the gauge slider part and cu off the excess, stops it moving from side to side. If you get some 11mm BAR you can make your own left hand extension because the hols are already there. You can purchase a guard with the hose attachment on it from eBay. Hope this helps.
