Expanding FOAM for fence posts?! Would you try this product? #shorts

Have you see this new fence post product? Unlike spray foam, it’s a closed cell foam and ideal for posts that are not load bearing. This was my first time using it and I am impressed. We used the product on two short posts for a small trash can privacy fence I built this summer. It’s now winter and I’m so impressed with how sturdy they posts are. Can be handy if you dont have access to water on site for concrete mixing, it is very quick, and more benefits.

Hell no. That stuff deteriorates quickly, especially in sunlight.

  2. Tpecroe on July 10, 2023 at 1:46 pm

    Used it and love it.

  3. KingWhisky on July 10, 2023 at 1:47 pm

Nope, we need less unnatural products in the world not more

  4. Azlan Othman on July 10, 2023 at 1:50 pm

    Shake the posts…

  5. Goose Hocog on July 10, 2023 at 1:51 pm

Foam and water don’t make for a steady….anything really. Just use concrete!!

  6. Zack Febus on July 10, 2023 at 1:52 pm

    Nope

  7. Patrick Grolemund on July 10, 2023 at 1:52 pm

As long as it’s nonstructural I would be ok with this, however I think this foam product generally costs more than an 8 dollar bag of concrete. You can even set fence posts with gravel and this works pretty well also. Concrete prevents the post from rotting though.

  8. balalunga1 on July 10, 2023 at 1:53 pm

I would not make any experiences.
We all know concrete does the job. So why changing a winning team?

  9. Geronn Moore on July 10, 2023 at 1:54 pm

I mean some companies use expanding foam for concrete leveling and as long as this isn’t for decking I think this will suffice

  10. Miodrag 007 on July 10, 2023 at 1:54 pm

    Yes,where is Serbia???

  11. Blue Collar Family Fox on July 10, 2023 at 1:57 pm

    name of this product pls.

  15. D.N. McKinney on July 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm

So, he isn’t building an above ground bomb/tornado shelter out of wood? I guess the foam isn’t for soundproofing, then.

  16. Camara on July 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm

    This just ain’t it chief.

  17. Beau on July 10, 2023 at 2:01 pm

  18. Ninou Nino on July 10, 2023 at 2:01 pm

i wouldn’t trust this I better use cement

  19. Joe Kitzman on July 10, 2023 at 2:01 pm

I went with this stuff for a 4 foot section of chain link fence. It did the job but I’m not a fan. It looks like the posts can jiggle back and forth a bit

  23. Allen Flud on July 10, 2023 at 2:13 pm

Don’t do this. Your fence will fail.

    Which product use

  25. Shaft on July 10, 2023 at 2:18 pm

Would rather use concrete and a mold

I appreciate the [nice] comments. Things to know: These posts are for a simple, tiny 4×4’ light duty privacy fence that hides trash cans. Nothing structural. This is not insulating foam. It’s made for exterior fence posts (https://amzn.to/3b38eWy). We live in Texas where it’s warm most of the year. No frost line, not windy. No, we are intentionally not using the level as a level but instead just as a straight line to get the posts in the same plane. Yes those are treated posts. Yes, I’ve used and love Quickcrete. This was just a good opportunity to try a new product. No, the rain has not affected the product at all. I did this 8 months (and 3 seasons) ago and the posts are still rock solid. No rot, no wobble. I’m pretty impressed. Great product for a small job like this, in an area like this, or if you are in a spot with no access to water to mix Crete.

My yard is equal mixtures of clay and rock. I can put a 4×4 in the ground 16" deep, pack the clay and rock around the post and tamp it down, and you won’t be able to knock it over with a bulldozer

  28. Donald Hare on July 10, 2023 at 2:20 pm

    Cost?

  29. T Mark Lenthall on July 10, 2023 at 2:20 pm

    More convenient toxic waste.

  30. justwannaname on July 10, 2023 at 2:22 pm

Helped my neighbors install these. 6 years later they’re still going strong. I will say you will want to tape up the bottom 6-8 inches from the foam raising up and sticking to them so when you chop it out you don’t notice it.

  31. Desa Tally on July 10, 2023 at 2:23 pm

    Quick answer … no

  32. Russ Donaldson on July 10, 2023 at 2:25 pm

Once this stuff gets hold and goes off it’s not moving for a long long time 😂

  33. Malik Murtaza on July 10, 2023 at 2:26 pm

  38. Joe Blair on July 10, 2023 at 2:30 pm

Check out what happens when you spill gas or paint thinner on them….

  39. Hugo 2001 on July 10, 2023 at 2:30 pm

That’s not going to last long.

  40. Dire Wolf Forge on July 10, 2023 at 2:31 pm

I bought two kits of this last year but haven’t used them yet. I remember reading something about insects eating the foam, has anyone seen that happen?

  41. Thomas Paarup Pedersen on July 10, 2023 at 2:32 pm

No, I would not use a toxic, structureally weak material to secure fence posts.

  42. Michael Wright on July 10, 2023 at 2:32 pm

    Bugs love this stuff

  43. F Reduction on July 10, 2023 at 2:32 pm

I think with dirt it will still stand still, concrete is also an opinion

  44. QUEEN OF PAIN on July 10, 2023 at 2:33 pm

American structure standard is too low..

Interesting but I would not try it

  46. RobDigital on July 10, 2023 at 2:36 pm

    Nope, foam degrades with moisture.
