Is there a trick to have the cutlist calculate when you copy items? For example when building a pergola. 4 post beams. I would create 1 and then copy to create the other 3. When I go to cutlist it only shows an amount for 1 post, not 4.
Hi. Grain Follows Length not work. i chandge direction of grain on my component, but Grain Follows Length not work. Please help.
Now this is nice beautiful
Are you a wood worker?
i want to able to create a model for a cabinet and generate cut list for 10 instances of the same model ? Is there a way to do that ?
THERE IS A CERTAIN SADNESS IN THIS BEAUTIFUL CREATION !! IF ONLY THE IMAGE COULD HAVE BEEN SUPERIMPOSED RATHER THAN CARVED !!.
Hi, thank you for sharing. ‘m trying to generate a cut list for a project that is made by 10, 16, and 20 mm plywood. I’m having troubles with 20 mm plywood, because the software produces more cut list for the 20 mm plywood, instead of merging in a single cut list like the other thickness. How can i fix this problem?
I am wondering how to generate cutting diagram for solid woods (I don’t see cutting diagram button as shown for plywoods).
Hello, thank you for tutorial!
Can you help me to find how can I change the grain of a piece? not based on lenght? thank you, looking for your answer
Hangs with large number of cabinets whivh was not happening with previous versions
What if I want to build multiple dressers (or other item). Do I need to duplicate the item in Sketchup or is there a setting in the extension to set for number of items/objects to build?
This 2 part tutorial just streamlined everything I’ve been doing!
Bummer. cutlist doesn’t seem to work in sketchup 2021
i see you on the GITHUB for opencutlist so wanted to ping you with an issue im having. it normally works but this time it refuses to generate cutlist for plywood panels stating that the saw kerf is tooo big
have never had this issue. i did check material dimensions to ensure that i didnt use an inch where foot should be
Awesome man thank you!
I’m confused a bit. You have all these different groups. Did you use a shortcut to get to all the groups?
thank you
Part of a cabinet project not showing all in the opencutlist when generating them ?
Probably the most slow moving painful tutorial I have ever watched!
great video, helped a lot. thanks
What if you are unable to download the open cut list?
use cm or mm units
I just tried ‘Cutlist’. It is an older program and is free. I like the way it works. Easy to use. The only shortcoming is that the layout drawings do not include dimensions. Perhaps these is a setting I missed.
Man I’ve been making those process so much harder than it needed to be. What was your back panel? You hid it but didn’t add it to the material list.
HI, is there a cutmap plugin alternative, since it is not compatible with latest sketchup version ?
Thanks for this. Getting the cutlist went just as described. If you don’t have Trimble acct, you will have to make one. Then follow the download and install instructions from the warehouse.
It is helpful… https://youtu.be/PGelu_F2Ftg please support me . Thank you
Is there an option to make cutlist according to the grain direction. Because I have to change the axis manually everytime
This was very well explained. Thank you, Andrew!
Thank u very much
If your plywood fits into a dado in the legs and the panel is actually 1" wider than the piece that shows how would you account for that?
When i use this extension in Sketchup 2021 Pro it tells me "Your model does not use any defined material (Solid Wood, Sheet Goods, Dimensional ou Hardware)."
However, i used materials native to the Sketchup program in my drawing.
Thoughts on why this extension does not recognize I have actually assigned those materials?
Andrew: I appreciate the time and effort you took to help me work through both Sketchup and Cutlist. One thing I noted was that you had not included a board covering the back of the dresser. I presumed it should be 1/4" and I made it OSB for the purposes of completing this tutorial. I did note, however, that Cutlist would not generate properly while that back board was in place, so I "moved" it away from my drawing and it worked just fine. Is there a workaround for not having to "explode" the drawing?
I haven’t tried yet, but will a piece with rebates or dados be recognized as the larger thickness (0.75")
It was a very good explanation, it helped me a lot. Thank you Andrew ! Also OCL is very successful. Many thanks to the person who made it.
Fellow woodworkers, what other programs do you use for generating cut-lists?
yea, well, I expected sketchup can do it without extension.
"On the ‘macintosh’" That was adorable.
This is fantastic! I decided to donate to the project. This is well worth it and many hours of development have been invested into this extension.
Another excellent video.
Thank you very much for the help on these videos! I am well on my way to designing my first piece now :D!
I wish you would’ve mentioned which version of the program you were using when we started. 🙁 spent all day creating my project now I cant create a cut list on the free, personal version. Thanks for your help anyway, overall it was helpful but that would’ve been a huge time saver.
My MS Excel does not have this Extension or Drawing Cabinet capabilities. We need more info that just "" Drawing cabinets with MS Excel"". or just ""Generate Cut-list Woodworking 3D SketchUp"
Hi Andrew, I’m really hoping you can help me. I built a model in SketchUp, I’m trying to generate a cut list, and the legs of my out feed table are going to be made from 2x lumber. However after I joint and mill the lumber the legs are going to be 1 1/4" x 4". In open cut list I keep getting to warning "cross section undefined." Id like to cut these pieces out of a 2×10, however it seems like the program will only let me define the lumber as the exact size of the finished cross section. I thought I would be able to use any piece of lumber that was larger than my finished piece? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is exactly what I needed. Thanks very much.
how do you use this for dimensial lumber. i have a bunch of 2×4 in a model and set up my materials with the correct thinkneses and plenty of standard lengths, but on the cutting diagram, it says "one or more parts could not be bit, because it is too large to fit"
Thanks for the video. I wish there were more tutorials in english for this program. Huge time saver
Any idea why solid wood parts won’t generate a layout? It would help to know at least the board footage required for solid wood parts
Thanks……………
love it. thank you. we share two loves, coding and woodworking.
