Grizzly G1033X spiral head 20" planer, first impressions…
Showing off the new planer. Glass finish on curly white oak. Amazingly quiet even with the cyclone running. Not a crumb escapes. Very impressed with the machine.
Perfect planner,i love this machine.
Terry,
I’m lookin into getting this machine within the next couple months and I’m curious how you got this unit into your space and off the pallet.
Thank you
the piece of wood needs to go into the planer on an angle, just saying
You said you had a ridgid planer, is that the basic home depot one? I want to buy my first planet. I’ve used a grizzly planer before and I know they’re great. For start up shop would you suggest to start here or look at the 12 inch planers?
Congratulations
This is BOSS Terry. Love it man
Hi Terry, I have a quick question if you don’t mind. I just got my G1033X delivered yesterday and it’s still sitting on the bottom portion of the crate. It’s definitely a beautiful looking machine. When I removed the box that contains the dust hood and others item I noticed it appeared to have an oily substance soaked in areas of the top of the box so I looked underneath the table and noticed some sitting drips of some oily substance. I was figuring it was simply the rust protective oil they put on the cast iron and it just was dripping between the openings where the table rollers sit. Did you notice this being the case with your machine? Thanks in advance for your reply, and your shop looks great by the way.
Terry, I just purchased the same machine, it will be delivered Wednesday Dec.5. Looks like a really nice machine, will let you know how it works out. Good luck with yours and congrats.

Hey Terry any chance you could show the cutter head on this unit? I’m curious if it’s close the byrd shelix…
is it 230V ? and can it fit wide wood like 20"?
just got mine yesterday (7/11/2019). took the head apart to clean each and every one of those 92 carbide inserts. love the fit and finish on the machine. didn’t realize how huge it is in real life. got everything setup, replaced gear oil, setup tables…
went for a test run and tripped the breaker. checked and rechecked everything and still, every time i press the start button the breaker trips.
will be calling the tech support tomorrow. one reason i decided to go with grizzly was the feedback on tech support. everyone seems to be impressed. i’ll let you know about my experience.
love it
any issues with feeding lumber? i just set mine up and i’ve had a few boards stick when feeding
Nice!
I just ordered mine finally – after 3 years how do you like it ?
*Been waiting to get one for a while **MyBest.Tools** Love it and easy to use. Braced pieces and ran thru on edges. Solid product. Still using my hand planer.*
Nice planer. I like your shop. How many square feet is shop?
With all those machines and tools, I would be tempted to try making some gun stocks…at least for something easy and non-critical like a 10/22 stock.
Nice !
I’m fixing to sell my 15in to get a 20in grizzly. Does is have a mobile base built in ?
Nice video. Question: What is the real planing feed rate 16 and 28 fpm or 16 and 20 fpm? the manual says 16 and 28 fpm
I like you terry. We would get along 🇺🇸👍🏻
