Hand Plane Selection, the Long Bodied #7
Hand Plane Selection, the Long Bodied #7
Rob gives a brief description of the function of a jointer compared to a smoother. GIves some reasons why this might be missing from your kit and why you should consider it. Woodriver from Woodcraft.
Hello, Do you make 25 or 30 degress bevel blade when you uses the shooting board?
Could I make do with a number 6, as I’m a smaller person and No 7 is just so long? Thx
Hi Rob, this was a great video on the #7 plane. I am considering adding one to my collection. I had in mind before I seen this video the #8 lie-Nielsen which is a bit bigger and heavier but now I have confused myself. Which would you recommend? Thanks Rob
Thanks Rob, I love mine
👍
I love my power tools, but occasionally I wonder how some of my old furniture was made and shaped before the days of power tools. I’m learning how in the Cosman shop from a modern-day master in his YouTube classroom. This is fun!

Grat explanation of the Jointer. I have a #7 clone made many years ago when Craftsman was still a real tool company. Bought old, used and in bad shape but a week of so of work brought it back to life and able to pull a .001 shaving from some rough sawn boards (6/4 x 10′)I get from a friend for a project. Love the videos.
Hi Rob, if someone already has a No. 5 (or 5 1/2), would you suggest going with the No. 7 over the 6? Thanks!
Nice look at that No. 7 Rob. Thanks.
Got a used one for $20, I would like new but don’t use it that often.
I want to get me one of these to add to my collection, would you recommend the Woodriver one? or spend more and get a Lie-Nielsen one? is there any difference apart from price?
