That makeshift soldering rod was ingenious. I used to use graphite in pencils to light cigarettes buy applying electricity to it, while I was in jail a long time ago. When I was younger and still in my rebellious years and was always getting into trouble.

Pro-tip : avoid handy-made tips accelerated videos with crappy music (you know, the repetitives one made with a computer that was a hit for a week and then your government uses in its ads targeting the youngs) where you don’t see a face.

the soldering was really cool and the hydrogen lighter is brilliant too…. i normally heat up a nail tip on a burner and use it for soldering when nothing else is handy

the trick with the lighter is funny, like mcguyver xD just the fact if you need a battery for it, you could easier make fire with the battery and a wire

  31. Zaptor on July 14, 2023 at 3:04 pm

No way a usb connection could power a soldering iron as the volts are 5 and the amps are a measly one or two.

  32. rederik goder on July 14, 2023 at 3:04 pm

Most of the negative comments r prolly from 🐒 boys living outside european civilisation , that r frustrated n will probably use most of these things but try to undermine it.

  33. Tyler Paps on July 14, 2023 at 3:07 pm

I guess if you don’t have between $9-$15 to go buy an actual soldering iron you can spend how ever long it takes to "make" this homemade soldering iron. Im sure that you can probably find the components or similar components that he used around your garage, if you keep any parts, nuts, bolts, etc.. like I do in a parts bin or whatever however, I’d be looking for a job so I can afford to "pay" for a proper soldering iron instead of wasting my time building one. Pretty cool and "knowledgeable" that you were able to make a working soldering iron out of a pencil though, I guess. These videos must be "fun" for you(?) but by no means are practical for ANYONE to actually follow and actually build as a means to use for a practical reason. "Good job" though? Keep having fun dude.

    very nice

  40. Jim on July 14, 2023 at 3:13 pm

Fun! Can someone explain to me why he used a pencil — with the obvious weakness in the graphite ("lead") which could easily be broken? Was it somehow used in the actual soldering process?

  41. Aron Bryan on July 14, 2023 at 3:16 pm

I drill a hole in the bottom of Bic lighters and refill them. I use a tiny good screw that can be inserted fast. It’s easy and you only have to buy lighters when the flint runs out. Which is like 5 or 6 refills

You got every handyman here to California fuming with this video. They don’t know what they’re gonna do now that all these secrets are out. 😱😱

  46. LionafriQ Radio on July 14, 2023 at 3:22 pm

I think we can all agree that some situations may need us to work with limited or available resources to fix a problem. With some extra wit and handiness, you can do much! To add on that, "The 80-20 rule, also known as the Pareto Principle, is a familiar saying that asserts that 80% of outcomes (or outputs) result from 20% of all causes (or inputs) for any given event."

  47. dilip patel on July 14, 2023 at 3:23 pm
