I have only used the oil based polyurethane I’m going to buy the water-based and give it a try on my lighter wood signs. Thank you for the tips!

Love the finished color!! Can I ask what stain you used on this piece? Also did you use 2 coats of stain or just one?

If applying stain or polyurethane to fluted wood, would it be best to use a cloth/rag or brush with bristles to get in all the grooves?

  8. Vikki Wilkenshoff on May 23, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Thank you. Perfect timing as I purchased it today to use on a coffee table (1st project) tomorrow. Can’t believe I actually bought the foam brushes and poly you recommended. I was stressing over doing it when I opened your email.

I can’t stress using the 220 sandpaper enough. What a huge difference.

Is a cloudy milky finish normal after first coat of poly? I’m using the fast drying oil based over a dark stain

  19. Michael on May 23, 2022 at 8:29 pm

    @ 5:51
Wait… so the "Fast Drying" polyurethane takes 4-6hrs to dry while the water based takes 2-3hrs to dry?? Makes sense…..

  20. JA on May 23, 2022 at 8:30 pm

Is there a product that protects bare wood without changing it’s color? I prefer the color of the wood in the video in the "before" state. Too yellow/orange after product is applied.
