How To Build A Professional Looking Wooden Sign With Raised Letters // Woodworking / DIY

Using 100 Year Old Barn Wood and MDO plywood I build a new professional looking sign for my friend at Pine Hill Sportsman’s Club. I cut the letters out of the MDO and paint them for that nice raised letter look.

That would be so much less work if you did it on even a hobbyist grade CNC machine and made it out of one piece so you don’t have to glue and nail all those different parts. I’m guessing two signs like that should pay for a hobby grade CNC machine

You could add LED light strip along the inside of the border. Then add a glass cover over the top. Idk… you did a fantastic job. What do you think about this?

I do signage. We don’t use plywood or any wood materials for 3d. Not even in interior. They are not weather proof. We rely on cnc cuts, as scroll saw are not perfect when look in close details.

What a great sign art. Love it. I made couple of signs and I am looking around to see if I can make a living with this. I am a painter for homes. But I noticed is not as easy as anyone can imagine.

Why not use a spar urethane? Better for outside than the water based. Work is amazing

I’ve watched many sign videos lately to be honest your work was the best! Awesome job with the individual cuts onto the 3d effect with the white over black edges. Tuned in! You have a new follower.

This is a awesome sign. I am restoring a residential sign and trying to enlist the city for minimal help to remount a 96"L x 22-1/2"w sign that is been in my area behind my house since 1983. I restored it once in 2015. But weather has taken its toll and the bolts that they originally mounted it with was mounted incorrectly to start. Now it is breaking through and will drop and be destroyed. I asked the city to just remount it and I will restore it. We’ll see what happens.

This is great. I do have one question. How do you keep the consistency when you loosest painted first and then roller painted? I just don’t want to mess up
