Thank you! I’m trying to cut smaller, narrower notches for interlocking pieces, so just do the two sides and the base with a chisel. Struggling to get them perfectly straight though! Any tips apart from practise? Straight edge perhaps?

How do you cut a 2×4 straight? I tried twice already and it’s not straight. New to using a jigsaw. Is it just practice?

I would use the speed square as a guide for short cuts and maybe a straight edge for longer cuts.

Anyone know what happened to scrolling jigsaws? They have just quietly disappeared from store shelves everywhere. The only place
to buy one now is used i.e. ebay etc.

    Respected Sir,
    A question,instead of our left hand thumb,can we use a scale ?

  21. Vicki k Gibson on July 7, 2023 at 2:54 pm

So you do the same if you cut out a square inside the wood panel…I drill a hole at each corner, just a bit away from the edge so I can lead up into the corner…and can turn the saw. How do you do it? Also, I have a problem with using a fence…to keep the line straight, my blade still wants to turn away from the line to turn to the fence…so it does not cut a straight line..what did I do wrong? I tried the silly blade adjuster at that back of the Dewalt jig saw, but that just put a slant on the blade for working forward angle etc…? What is that for??Thank you!

I noticed that the tear-out on the wood was on the bottom not the top, did you use a cut down stroke on blades? I’m trying to cut the horns on fingered pine as well as MDF for interior 11/16" thick window sills (stoop) and I screwed up several. Some where the blade deflected or a wavier in the cut line. Very little surface to rest the shoe on. I’m beginner DIY fixing up my house. Any help would be great. Thanks
