How to. Hand made sign using a router, simple technique.
Here is the technique I use to get great results when free handing my router for writing. Any questions, drop them in the comments below.
*** I didn’t mention in the video, I used a 12mm/ 1/2” V groove bit in my 1/4” palm router. This is simply because that’s what I have. I bought a box of bits when I bought my router and I tried different bits and like the effect with the V groove one. I also set the depth to about 3mm/ 1/8” this makes a shallow profile which means you must be careful when sanding your piece after. If you are not careful you can easily sand that flat!****

Useless without all the missing information such as where to get the stencils and what router bits you used, etc, etc,
WHAT IS A GRANDAS?….why is there an apostrophe where there should be a d?😊
I just finished building the handrail on my deck https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z and used this great little router to clean up the top rail before the final sanding and stain. It was light weight but packed lots of power. Either size battery didn’t seem to make it top heavy and I’m a 64 yr old women so I really appreciated how easy it was to use…………………. CORDLESS only way to go !!
I’ve been looking at quite a few of this type of routing video over the last months and I think that’s the first I’ve seen with a straight bit rather than some kind of pointed/angled bit, so that it gives vertical sides and a flat base to the cut. Looks good to me – I’ll try it when I eventually get around to digging the router out & finding a suitable chunk of wood.
I should treat yourself to some anti slip matting
You are gifted. Thank you!
Hand carver myself. Just say no to CNC’s!!
what bit did you use in your router?
Does sanding the other piece of wood help?
Very nice
you forgot the d in grandads
As other people have said, that’s a great outcome.
But does anyone else think the same as me?
A hand-made sign … using a router???
What bit do you use
Very nice technique and sign! Thanks for posting. I would love to make something like that, but I would find it very difficult to follow the lines using this technique. Apart from anything else I am not able to see the bit clearly enough on either of my routers – a palm router and a plunge router – to be able to follow it around the template. Even then my lines would be all over the place. I suppose the only option would be to make or buy a plastic or plywood template?
What router bit did you use? Also, what paint?. It looks thicker than the spray paint I normally see folks use in these videos..
Granda’s. Is that an American word?
your router sounds a little bit like a dentist drill
I use a different technique by printing the image in reverse onto a sheet of paper, lay it onto my timber face down & rub the back with thinners, it transfers the ink onto your workpiece.
Does that router have a heal pivot because when i try to move positions, or switch on and off it kicks.
Nicely done.
