You seem to forget, most Beginners wouldn’t just have a table saw in their garage/tool shead to rip and cut boards….and the ones who would have these type of table saws and other equipment would be way more skilled for small little box projects as your demonstrating….Just saying!

  2. Gold coast on December 27, 2021 at 9:32 pm

yup it’s a basic box but the problem is i do not have a tools for make it lol

  3. Bob Wilson on December 27, 2021 at 9:33 pm

You didn’t talk about dado and the box dimensions

  4. Jonathan Block on December 27, 2021 at 9:33 pm

I don’t know what led me to this

Love the thumbnail! Made me watch it again. It does work!

  6. TheChrisnextel on December 27, 2021 at 9:36 pm

Building a box is the simplest project for woodworking beginners so I wished you could have shown us how to do this with the basic power tools like a circular saw. A table saw is way too expensive for a newbie.

  7. Lydia Hiott on December 27, 2021 at 9:39 pm

I have a saw and some minor tools. Not a work bench that costs thousands!

  8. Jim Couch on December 27, 2021 at 9:40 pm

I have intermediate to advanced level toolset and a beginner level mindset! I am so excited to find your videos.

  9. Bernard Douthit on December 27, 2021 at 9:40 pm

While I appreciate the detailed explanation of how to make this box, there’s nothing simple about it. I’ve been learning how to use a miter saw and a circular saw and yet this video is a bit intimidating. All I need is a table saw, a router, a work bench, wood clamps, a specialized blade, clamps, and the plans to make this kind of box. This is more like woodworking Intermediate. I think it would have been helpful to show a box build with just straight joints – with maybe a few brackets to reinforce them. Joinery is really cool, but I think it’s more for the intermediate or advanced woodworker.

That’s cool and everything but I was really hoping for some of that sweet sweet door hinge content.

  11. Neil Hopkins on December 27, 2021 at 9:46 pm

How many DIY woodwork posses a table saw!,

  12. Tadpole on December 27, 2021 at 9:47 pm

Do I buy a table saw for hundreds of dollars or buy a box for $5?

  13. karyn karam on December 27, 2021 at 9:47 pm

But where to get those wood pieces from ?

  14. David Shingle on December 27, 2021 at 9:48 pm

Thank you so much for the vid. So have you seen Woody Hyezmar’s woodworking “Bible” yet? I think videos are better because of the visuals, but you can still get it before it’s published, just try and go’ogle him.

Hey Steve, nice video. I like how you assembled this box using only glue. However, I’m curious when this technique should not be used. I’m assuming if you are making a large box (such as a drawer) using only glue might not be secure enough. Is there a rule for when you need to start using nails/screws?

  17. Judy P's Crafty Journeys on December 27, 2021 at 9:55 pm

Great video, I love to decorate the boxes from Michael’s, I will have to try making one myself. Thanks for sharing! New subbie here, would love to be crafty YouTube friends.

Or you can use a rabbit plane

  19. BuzzandJim on December 27, 2021 at 9:56 pm

Starts out by saying yoy can do woodwork without expensive equipment then goes on to show several ways of rebating with a workshop table saw. Sounds expensive to me. What about a rebate or shoulder plane? Most people starting out dont have a fully kitted out workshop. Jeez

  20. Gyula Simigla on December 27, 2021 at 9:57 pm

    Great Video.
Just an idea what you could make.
Bird house or Bird feeder from scrap wood.
Please, check my video for tips…
This is not my profession, just my hobby.

  25. viren chocha on December 27, 2021 at 10:01 pm

very nice. But you have made this box using table saw. Do you think and noob will own a table saw. Guess – Not. And it you are not a noob, who cares how you make box, you are already a pro. Thanks any way…In India, our carpanter have only rudimentary tools and he along with his single helper creates magic out of plywood…

  26. ColJamesBapworth on December 27, 2021 at 10:06 pm

I got a really unreasonable amount of dopamine seeing the bottom fit into the sides the first time.

  27. Grzegorz Marciniak on December 27, 2021 at 10:07 pm

Watching your videos I decided to start my adventure with woodworking with the mentioned box. To begin with, I would like to buy only the equipment needed to build exactly this. From the video I wrote down the list and wanted to ask If anyone can help me double check If Im correct:

    – table saw
    – gripper
    – clamps x6
    – stretch-clamp
    – sand paper
    – orbit sander
    – glue
    – stain in spray (not sure if that was it? last part of video)

anything I’m missing? Or something not on the video that is necessary?
    Thanks in advance

  33. Comments on December 27, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Even the "humble" box requires a lot of skill, and tools.

  34. eric h on December 27, 2021 at 10:13 pm

why does the lid need to be two pieces?

  42. Bob Marske on December 27, 2021 at 10:18 pm

Steve – have you used a crosscut sled for this sort of project?

  43. The Pochade on December 27, 2021 at 10:19 pm

Tricky if you don’t have a table saw.

  44. P N Hartz on December 27, 2021 at 10:20 pm

I always make the box, Then cut the top or lid off

  45. Andrew Havens on December 27, 2021 at 10:22 pm

Lots of people complaining in the comments about how this project requires a table saw. I don’t have a table saw either but I recognize it’s an extremely useful tool for all kinds of woodworking projects. I’ve been able to get by using a circular saw, or having the Home Depot employee cut my boards before I bring them home, but all of these projects that I’ve done have been DIY projects rather than "real woodworking" projects. Would be neat to see a video on this same topic using different techniques for building boxes (for all the DIYers and for learning). I also recently learned about pocket holes and bought the Kreg R3, which has been fun to use. A table saw has been on my wish list for a long time, but haven’t been able to bite the bullet and make the purchase. I guess I’m also hesitant to bring in a tool in my garage that is going to make a big mess. Curious if you have a "table saws for newbies" kind of video.

  46. Chris Wendel on December 27, 2021 at 10:26 pm

Woohoo! Made my first box after watching this using the rabbit joint. My table saw has always been intimidating for me. Getting a better feel for it. Thanks!

  47. Mira F. on December 27, 2021 at 10:26 pm

Wow! Amazing! And shops sell that stuff for five bucks when there has been so much work put into it?!?! (I know most of the time it isn’t perfect and the wood is of low quality, but damn!)
    I’m so fascinated!

  48. Joe Kelsall on December 27, 2021 at 10:29 pm

In the UK they are rebates.
