How to make a simple cross cut sled for your table saw – DIY

How to make a simple cross cut sled for your table saw – DIY

In my opinion a cross cut sled is the first thing one must make for his / her table saw. It is really useful in many woodworking situations.

I agree it is the first thing you should make when you get a table saw and that’s what I’m going to do

  5. Xinix Xagnix on May 31, 2022 at 8:28 pm

cool and simple, but why no pivot point instead of full glue/screws?

  12. Tegnet on May 31, 2022 at 8:40 pm

    This is great.
I was wondering how you’d make sure it was square… As a semi newbie, I hadn’t thought of cutting halfway through it and squaring up from the cut 😉

You’re right! This should’ve been the first thing I should’ve made! Part of me wonders why these aren’t mass produced for table saws🤷🏻‍♂️

  25. Fatty BoomBatty on May 31, 2022 at 8:53 pm

Good video, but I must say I’m surprised you still have all your fingers – wouldn’t a riving knife help? Last year 65,000 people had life changing injuries due to table saws, including my friend who nearly lost his thumb.

  26. Chris on May 31, 2022 at 8:56 pm

Do I need to make a cross cut sled if I just have a small 8 1/4 in portable table saw? I only use it in my garage but all the cross cut sleds I have seen on YouTube have been for very large shop table saws?

  27. Jim Karatassos on May 31, 2022 at 8:57 pm

First time I’ve seen your videos, Dimitri. Very heartening to see a Greek woodworker take such a prominent position on YouTube.

  28. Markie Linhart on May 31, 2022 at 8:58 pm

Great video! So simple and functional… 👏🌹🇦🇺✌️

  29. Rudy Chavira on May 31, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Does it detract from sled at all if you leave rails a little longer in front?

  30. mohd ali mat on May 31, 2022 at 9:02 pm

Very easily understood instruction manual on how to make a table saw sled. Thank you sir.

  38. Vinlyguyx420x on May 31, 2022 at 9:11 pm

The way you purnacate the word "saw" makes it sounds like such an elegant tool! Classy!

  39. 1984tidzy on May 31, 2022 at 9:11 pm

Can you use vassaline to lubricate it instead of bees wax

  40. Szczegółowo nadwydajny on May 31, 2022 at 9:13 pm

I’m beginner and I’ve watched a lot of films about easy sledge for my table saw but your’s the easiest. Thanks!

  41. RufioTV on May 31, 2022 at 9:13 pm

  42. Alexander Peters on May 31, 2022 at 9:14 pm

Easy, simple, good. Thank you very much

  43. Darrellkh H. on May 31, 2022 at 9:17 pm

DONT glue the back board support. Screw on only, allows for adjustment. Also cut a a small chamfer on the bottom of the rear board to allow for any dusk

  44. DOME KNOCKA on May 31, 2022 at 9:18 pm

This is all I need but how long can I rip pieces length wise?

  45. Mark Glenn on May 31, 2022 at 9:18 pm

Thanks for posting this. I’m planning to make a ‘simple’ sled, so have been watching several videos. You obviously understand what the word ‘simple’ means!
