I dunno, I don’t think you had fun with this one. Gotta turn that dial up to 11 or you’re just not going to have enough fun.

    Great looking plane!

Being correct and proper is my idea of fun.

  8. Amber Cypcar on January 11, 2022 at 10:42 pm

    That wood is called Chonta.

  9. Marcin Rzepa on January 11, 2022 at 10:43 pm

  10. David Robine on January 11, 2022 at 10:47 pm

So, we should have fun? I don’t know about that, it sounds pretty scary.

  11. Nik Burton on January 11, 2022 at 10:49 pm

I was stationed on Guam for 8 years, and made lots of cool stuff from coconut palm. It was FUN…

  12. Theophilus Sampson on January 11, 2022 at 10:50 pm

    Good job

  13. Robin Lundgren on January 11, 2022 at 10:51 pm

Challenge: Make a plane without a plane or electricity.

I’m about to get going with this myself – no workbench, a bunch of chisels which I’m currently prepping, saws, sandpaper, flat surfaces et cetera and some thinking 🙂 Hopefully I’ll have my very own Krenov style smoothing (5½ish) plane in a couple of weeks.

  14. Michael Gross on January 11, 2022 at 10:54 pm

Rants aren’t fun, even if they’re about fun.
    Nice work on the plane!

  15. Aegeus on January 11, 2022 at 10:54 pm

You Go man, keep having fun!!!!

  16. Kent Buchard Willum on January 11, 2022 at 10:54 pm

    Clamps are great fun.
    😃👌

  17. MC's Creations on January 11, 2022 at 10:57 pm

Sorry, Dave, but you didn’t used enough clamps! 😬
But seriously, thanks for the video! I’m going to make a few as soon as I can! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Old video, but one of my favorites. My channel has gained a little bit of ground and I can say, I get it. I’ve gotten those “don’t use that wood” comments, “don’t use that finish” comments, and I’m no professional, so the sole purpose in my projects is to just have some fun.

  19. Rich Bolduc on January 11, 2022 at 10:58 pm

So I really like the look of the palm and agree with the issues people mentioned. Do you think stabilizing it would eliminate all those issues though?

  20. Jawsjawsjawsrg on January 11, 2022 at 10:58 pm

In case you where wondering, the back of the plane is called the heel, and the front is called the toe. I hope you had fun, nice build.

  21. William Comtois on January 11, 2022 at 10:58 pm

he keeps saying the f word

  22. theunimerse on January 11, 2022 at 10:58 pm

Can I just check, are you having fun? Just wanna be sure.

  23. Rusty Shackleford on January 11, 2022 at 11:00 pm

    Nasty

  24. Nicolas Baptista on January 11, 2022 at 11:00 pm

I almost had fun. Until i didnt hear My REM drop.

  25. Shipman Welds on January 11, 2022 at 11:00 pm

Does coconut balm dull planner or jointer blades quickly?

  26. Rayle Williams on January 11, 2022 at 11:03 pm

    Noone:

    David: WE’RE JUST HAVING FUN

  27. Abid WizardofOZ on January 11, 2022 at 11:04 pm

Bruh stop saying that bs. Was not funny at all. Cut ur crap man

  28. LimitedGunnerGM on January 11, 2022 at 11:05 pm

This actually solves one of my questions. How do you know where to place the dowel? I like how you slid it back and forth to get the spacing right. Krenov design for the win!

  29. Jeriah Smith on January 11, 2022 at 11:06 pm

Should have rephrased the sentence to "we’re just having fun, and even if it doesn’t work its still gonna be gorgeous" coco palm is a really good looking wood

  30. TheForceIsStrong on January 11, 2022 at 11:08 pm

that’s a serious plane iron. I set my planes the way I use them.

  31. Jeremey Weeks on January 11, 2022 at 11:09 pm

    I had fun.

  32. SBizzle on January 11, 2022 at 11:12 pm

  34. Joe Hansen on January 11, 2022 at 11:15 pm

U can use any wood if u stabilize it with that cactus juice

  35. Regular Father on January 11, 2022 at 11:16 pm

So glad to see that you use affordable and perfectly serviceable Harbor Freight clamps. I tip my hat to you, budget minded sir.

  36. Emily Lindstrom on January 11, 2022 at 11:16 pm

I had fun! That’s beautiful wood.. I wonder if it could be resin stabilized..

  37. C H on January 11, 2022 at 11:16 pm

Hey I know this video is a couple years old… But you realize Coconut Palm is basically sand right? You’ll dull your blades…

  38. oliver twist on January 11, 2022 at 11:17 pm

He’s right!…. sometimes you gotta have fun! (which means experimenting)…. if some of us don’t know or cannot remember the right terminology is not the end of the world. I love your block plane…. it cuts beautifully :0) "Ollytree" on Facebook ciao

  39. Hawk Tuft on January 11, 2022 at 11:17 pm

Festool seems like a great product but I think the pistol grip saws are uncomfortable

  40. Chris Smith on January 11, 2022 at 11:18 pm

People who don’t have fun need to get the f out fun that is! F em lol

  41. Epic Homestead Quest on January 11, 2022 at 11:21 pm

instructions unclear. made a helicopter and had no fun.

  43. Bradley on January 11, 2022 at 11:22 pm

I have a question at 8:45 you sharpened the blade in an up and down movement. Aren’t you sopposto to go in a 8 movement to sharpen blades? Or is that only for chisels?

  44. Dustin Owens on January 11, 2022 at 11:22 pm

This was fun…I think….no yea it yea was.

  45. TerryAnn Landells on January 11, 2022 at 11:22 pm
