Why do you keep the first stone in the bath, but only spritz the higher grit stones?

I put my digital angle finder with the magnet the kind you’d find used to check a table saw and I set my plane to the length it says for 30° but the angle finder is claiming it’s about 3-4° off not sure which I should trust ( this is my first hand plane setup/sharpening) had success with chisels but not planes.

Great video! I’m glad I’m not the only one who has a tiny shop that looks like that! 😉

Extend the trigger finger on your right hand onto the side of the iron. Also park your plane on it’s side.
