How to transform your home with custom built-ins.

How to transform your home with custom built-ins.

How gorgeous is this custom built-in bookshelf? I can’t take all of the credit, I teamed up with Kevin
from Fine Point Cabinetry, and together, we built a 15-foot custom built-in bookshelf unit for our
client. The two-toned look of natural rift-sawn white oak looks so beautiful against the Benjamin
Moore Kendall Charcoal that the client and interior designer chose. And the backlit LED shelf lighting
adds such a modern and luxurious look to this custom build.
Many thanks to my buddy Jesse Hoover from JH Craftsman for the LED electrical work and the
drywall patching! And a huge thank you to Lindsey Meehan Designs for coordinating this
commission.

Stumbled across your channel while looking for inspiration for a similar project. As a DIY builder, I’m in awe of your level of detail and planning. One question I have is that I noticed the pilasters between the base cabinets, but not between the uppers. I assume this means the upper shelving units are slightly wider than the lower cabs?

Hi Keith- Amazing work. Quick question for you – what did you use to cut the diffusors on those LED channels? After trial and error I was able to cut the channels themselves clean on a miter saw by using wooden "insert" block to keep it from bending, but the diffuser – I haven’t been able to get a really clean cut with anything so just wandering if there’s a fool proof way you figured out

Gorgeous work! Curious, is lighting at the back of the shelf always preferred? Or are there times where you might place the lights at the middle or the front?

I really want to build an L shaped book case with access to the corners. the center of the longest part of the L needs a double door to store rifles. on the short L side I want to transition into a daybed that is flush with the window. The design needs to have led lights. the Daybed has to transition from an XL twin to two xltwins side by side.

  27. Czapski Business Group on October 24, 2023 at 9:53 pm

Beautiful work. People don’t realize how much work goes into something like that. This isn’t a $1000 Ikea cabinet setup lol. I bet the connectors are over 1k for that.

If anyone is looking for the COST, PRICE, HOW MUCH, $ or another comment for the value of this piece, don’t bother. He does not disclose the prices. Not even ballpark, or a random number. So do yourself a favor, dislike the video.

My toxic trait is that whenever I watch a woodworking video online, I think "Oh, with a little practice and the right tools, I could easily do that." Then I see your videos, Keith, and I am humbled so damn hard. Thank you for showing your craft in an exciting, yet brutally honest way. 🤣

Is the rabbit on the uppers that sit in the counter channel 1/4”?

  41. Chad Tucker on October 24, 2023 at 10:10 pm

This is amazing. All I kept thinking of in the beginning though was “Gloves on a table saw… GLOVES ON A TABLE SAW” and having a mini panic attack.

  42. P TJ on October 24, 2023 at 10:11 pm

  48. IceWater Productions on October 24, 2023 at 10:22 pm

I know the old saying I’d if you have to ask how much something cost you can’t afford it, but yes I’m a serious vinyl collector and a neat freak. I’d like something similar. What’s a ballpark. $7-10,000?

  49. umesh satwe on October 24, 2023 at 10:22 pm

Hey great job, for perspective what are the dimensions of cabinet and the top shelf? Would you be able to share that ?

  50. Tim wilde on October 24, 2023 at 10:23 pm

I did something very similar with our study, including twin desks by another wall and a bench seat under the window – and between the wall units – with filing drawers built in underneath. Biggest difference with you guys? I was by myself – it was bloody hard lifting the shelf units in solo, but you find a way to manage.Nice job!
