How To Update ECU Software | #EnginEEringTheJigsaw | Episode F7

Previously, in our episode “What is #VehicleDiagnostics?”, we briefly mentioned that it was possible to write new ECU software using diagnostic services. In this episode, we will look more deeply at this aspect of ECU software: Enter the #FlashBootloader!

#EnginEEringTheJigsaw is a new series from #VectorInformatik that explains the technologies and concepts that are being built into the electrical/electronic (‘E/E’) systems of modern vehicles, and how Vector helps engineers to simplify their daily work:

To help you approach the episodes, we are grading them according to the level of content, as ‘foundation’, ‘intermediate’ or ‘advanced’. For more information on the series, please watch our introduction episode:

Please get in touch with us if you want to suggest topics relevant to modern vehicle E/E systems that you’d like us to cover, or if you have any questions on the content:

Of course, we are also happy if you write a comment directly here under the video!

F7 has changed my way of thinking , thank you verymuch, but I feel that OTA update is similar to an android mobile phone or a tablet software update with many functional changes. Is android OS recommended for Automotive applications ??

This is the most complex #EnginEEringTheJigsaw episode that we’ve made so far at the foundation-level, so we want to know whether the level is OK for you? Please let us know if it’s too much, too little or if we got the "Goldilocks Spot"?
