That’s good if the corner is a perfect 90degree angle….most are not, so wouldn’t fit perfectly

Beware that cutting skirting board like this only works if your skirting board is lower in height than your mitre box walls, as in this this video. If it’s higher,…best to use a mitre saw.

Why do you use the left side for the coving/crown moulding, but the right side for the skirting/baseboard trim? And can you suggest a way to stabilise the mitre box if I do not have a workbench like that? Thank you!

Thank you for this simple, succinct video! It’s straight to the point and answered all my questions in just a few minutes! I’ve been trying to figure out how to cut baseboards without a mitre saw and wasn’t sure how to position the trim or in which direction to cut. Part of my confusion was that you’re actually making bevel cuts, but everybody calls them mitre cuts. Why is it called a mitre box instead of a bevel box?
