Engineer? I can listen to your lectures all day long and never get bored. You are the second best; I am the first of course! : ) thanks for the great videos

    Great teaching

  3. Jim Burdan on January 5, 2022 at 8:37 pm

My router cuts looks like a toddler craved it out. I appreciate the simplicity of your explanation.

  4. Thomas Beauvais on January 5, 2022 at 8:37 pm

Why not show some plunge cuts?

  5. Nicholas Gambino on January 5, 2022 at 8:40 pm

What size ogee bit for the edge of 3/4 pine?

  6. Jeff Roach on January 5, 2022 at 8:41 pm

Thank you for making this so easy to understand! Tomorrow I shall purchase a router!

  7. docburch55 on January 5, 2022 at 8:41 pm

how about achieving a straight cut without a fence

  8. Maciej Jabłoński on January 5, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Wow that was super helpful and quick, as I was rather apprehensive about what to look for in routers and how they work. Great stuff!

  9. Mark Tillack on January 5, 2022 at 8:43 pm

A bit too fast on the presentation. I would imagine a newbie to routing would appreciate a little slower delivery of the information. Other than that, excellent!

  10. MR V on January 5, 2022 at 8:43 pm

I think I can tackle the job now. Thank you

  11. Russell Motter on January 5, 2022 at 8:43 pm

    Great video.
A smaller size router would work better for the application you were doing on the video.
the D handle router is very awkward to handle sometimes because it hangs off of the board so far.

jhm what was the rubber mat you were working on. What a great idea. Where to buy P.S. Loved the router video

  14. Jordon Schumway on January 5, 2022 at 8:45 pm

I did not see clamps. Is the black mat you work on prevent the wood from moving while you router?

  15. A B on January 5, 2022 at 8:53 pm

Thanks. I’m doing my homework! Watching your videos

  16. Kate on January 5, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Hello, thank you for explaining all the steps and the half inch v quarter inch bits and types of routers and push technique. This was clear and helpful and too the point. One request would be if we could please see the end result. Otherwise a really great video. Thank you from UK. Subbed and liked.

Hi all! Quick question from a newbie: what type of router should be the 1st one that I buy? A fixed base or plunge router?

  18. ROOKIE #1 on January 5, 2022 at 8:56 pm

Can you use this same router to cut aluminum with aluminum cutters???

  19. Karel HavlĆk on January 5, 2022 at 8:58 pm

    Great video

  20. Bernard Douthit on January 5, 2022 at 8:58 pm

Thanks for making this video, it is really helpful. I am finishing up a set of custom doors and I’m trying to install hinges and have the Ryobi hinge template. I bought a Kobalt router & table combo from Lowe’s. I know Kobalt isn’t nearly the same quality as Bosch and I’m starting to wonder if I need to upgrade. The Kobalt router has gear and rail system for adjusting the height and it looks like you can calibrate the depth meter. I just need it to be 7/8 because this is what the template recommends as the router sits on top of the template. Anyhow I’m a bit stumped because there seem to be 3-4 different ways to make adjustments. Any advice you might have would be great.

right to left if using a table?

  25. MickyMouseLimited on January 5, 2022 at 9:03 pm

This is one of the best videos for router use simple and on point. I just bought a router just like your small one and finally I don’t need to sand down edges I just passed them with the router. My final sanding now is just to finish the surface not to take down material. Thanks.

  26. Tina Riley on January 5, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Hi, what are your thoughts on using a muscle chuck for beginners? is there a video for that?

  27. LoveableEccentricity on January 5, 2022 at 9:06 pm

  28. Sev Hurd on January 5, 2022 at 9:07 pm

Awesome video. I was a little intimidated when considering buying one. They aren’t as complicated as I’d imagined. Thank you.

Question to any who may know? Looking to make a holding cross – a wooden hand held cross – I would like to put a St Joseph metal in the middle. Would a router be able to groove an oval shape so I could counter sink the metal even with the wood? Thanks

  31. weichao wang on January 5, 2022 at 9:10 pm

After having watched many videos on carpentry in Youtube I have found that the router is a very versatile tool. I wanted to suggest the guys to make an introduction to it. Here I’ve found one! Thank you!
Can you make another video to show what can be achieved with a router? A beginner cannot imagine it as I’ve not imagined that there can be a router.

  32. Joseph Stokes on January 5, 2022 at 9:11 pm

Thanks Dude! We owe you a beer!

  33. boon ang on January 5, 2022 at 9:11 pm

Great introduction of how to use Routers. Before watching this Video wasnt sure at all what to look for before buying one. Now I am more clear and informed looking for one. Thank you Mate.

  34. Paul Bialas on January 5, 2022 at 9:13 pm

excellent! Way to get to the point

  35. Jeet Ray on January 5, 2022 at 9:16 pm

Thank you! I just read an instruction manual and was fuzzy with the understanding on how to put a bit, how to use it. But this demonstration made it so much clear.

  36. AlfieLucy on January 5, 2022 at 9:18 pm

    great video

  37. Herbert Johnston on January 5, 2022 at 9:18 pm

Simple and to the point excellent. Look forward to buying a router

  38. sandas turner on January 5, 2022 at 9:19 pm

You know what sad the fact that poor the cable stopped selling one of the best selling router tables made out of all metal (except the fence "face", which is wood)

  39. Jack Watts on January 5, 2022 at 9:20 pm

I’d love a video on how to use a plunge router ie setting depth. Thanks! Love the videos!

  40. David Hahn on January 5, 2022 at 9:21 pm

thank you for the instruction. I just recently or the the bit goes either clockwisechased a router and after having a disasterous time with it, I turned to youtube. I’ve watched numerous video on the basics of routers–they all make it complicated with rules like placing your up in a hitch hiking position–instead of saying the left right methode for the inside or outside, etc. Yours was simple, straight to the point–no BS otheer wordly things to remember!

  41. Ran Khanal on January 5, 2022 at 9:23 pm

Too details for first time user. Too much talking less action.

  42. Roxann Reid-Rojas on January 5, 2022 at 9:23 pm

Thank you so much – I am in the process of buying a router and think I should start with a fixed one 1/2. After that we’ll see what I can do. Now i just need to know what is the best one to buy! Any recommendations?

  43. Derrick Kaseman on January 5, 2022 at 9:23 pm

How would you make slots against the wood like if I wanted to put some dowels to hang between two pieces I paint jigs and want to make a drying rack that lays flat so I can take the jigs out with the dowel

  44. Potato Pastry on January 5, 2022 at 9:25 pm

    Thank you

  45. Corine OHara on January 5, 2022 at 9:27 pm

AWESOME! Straight forward, comprehensible and gave everything a beginner needs in less than 5 minutes!

  46. Hister Shellac on January 5, 2022 at 9:31 pm

make sure to use the restroom before you route. best results when you are relaxed and focused. if you are holding your water you will blow something out or hurt yourself by rushing or skipping a step with a toll hat should never be hurried.

  47. Maximillian Taccoli on January 5, 2022 at 9:32 pm

Great video perfect explanation, cheers Mate!

  48. bob on January 5, 2022 at 9:32 pm

  49. Bo Hermans on January 5, 2022 at 9:33 pm

Really appreciate this no bullsh#t clear presentation. Such a relief as too many vids try too hard to entertain rather than inform. Subscribed!
