the D handle router is very awkward to handle sometimes because it hangs off of the board so far.

Thanks for making this video, it is really helpful. I am finishing up a set of custom doors and I’m trying to install hinges and have the Ryobi hinge template. I bought a Kobalt router & table combo from Lowe’s. I know Kobalt isn’t nearly the same quality as Bosch and I’m starting to wonder if I need to upgrade. The Kobalt router has gear and rail system for adjusting the height and it looks like you can calibrate the depth meter. I just need it to be 7/8 because this is what the template recommends as the router sits on top of the template. Anyhow I’m a bit stumped because there seem to be 3-4 different ways to make adjustments. Any advice you might have would be great.

This is one of the best videos for router use simple and on point. I just bought a router just like your small one and finally I don’t need to sand down edges I just passed them with the router. My final sanding now is just to finish the surface not to take down material. Thanks.

Question to any who may know? Looking to make a holding cross – a wooden hand held cross – I would like to put a St Joseph metal in the middle. Would a router be able to groove an oval shape so I could counter sink the metal even with the wood? Thanks

thank you for the instruction. I just recently or the the bit goes either clockwisechased a router and after having a disasterous time with it, I turned to youtube. I’ve watched numerous video on the basics of routers–they all make it complicated with rules like placing your up in a hitch hiking position–instead of saying the left right methode for the inside or outside, etc. Yours was simple, straight to the point–no BS otheer wordly things to remember!

How would you make slots against the wood like if I wanted to put some dowels to hang between two pieces I paint jigs and want to make a drying rack that lays flat so I can take the jigs out with the dowel

AWESOME! Straight forward, comprehensible and gave everything a beginner needs in less than 5 minutes!
make sure to use the restroom before you route. best results when you are relaxed and focused. if you are holding your water you will blow something out or hurt yourself by rushing or skipping a step with a toll hat should never be hurried.
